He came third at the emperor's cup in December at 65. The winner and the runner up went to Albania but neither got a medal. He posted after winning junior asians at 61 that it would be his last time at that weight class. This is after Ono beat him for the junior world spot. I think he has lost to both Tanabe and Ogino in his past two tournaments at 65.

Ghasempour techs Akturk and is into the final. He didn't rub Akturk's head this time after the match, thankfully. For what it's worth regarding Ghasempour's weight - Babak, the Iranian wrestling instagram star and UWW commentator, says Ghasempour weighs around 92kg and that he thinks it's unlikely that he could wrestle 86.

Nishiuichi is at 65 now

Amouzad just isn't capable of getting much going against Japan, even against their lesser guys.
-
Seems he beat Aitmukhsn very easily

He's training with Otoguro's brother I believe, not Otoguro

Azimi beats Babaloooooo 5 - 4 to make the team for asian champs
-
To my knowledge he has not. He wrestled in the league at 86 and at that Iran vs Russia event but both those had a weight allowance. Both are these are recent. Outside of that I do not recall him entering anything at 86 since 2021. 86 has to be tempting for him going forward as he is basically guaranteed the spot domestically outside of a disastrous weight cut. At 92 he potentially has Yazdani who he has lost to many times and Firouzpour, who while he has beat comfortably in the past, seems like a miserable guy to wrestle against with his strength and endless forward pressure.
-
He has endless cardio but is a very bad starter is often behind big a minute into the match. He has won cadet and junior gold now so he has at least started his career well. Who knows if he can translate that into seniors. Unknown as of this point. He is entered for next week's Albania ranking tournament at 92kg. This is really 94kg with the weight allowance. He could have wrestled 88 if he wanted. If he is at 92 it is possible we have Yazdani, Firouzpour and Ghasempour all at 92. All 3 of these guys could win the weight at worlds. If I had to guess I would say Ghasempour will go to 86, but nothing is confirmed.

Elahi must sue
-
Yes. He must contact his lawyers and immediately sue the Iranian wrestling federation.

Tehran wins the team title in freestyle for cadets. Mazandaran officially only had 1 champ, though I think Gilan province won a few weights with guys from Mazandaran. At 71kg the cadet eligible Ariobarzan Mohammadi, who teched and pinned his way through junior nationals at 70kg like 2 weeks ago , lost here in the semi finals to the eventual winner from Mazandaran representing Gilan. I thought that was interesting/funny. The level at cadets was higher than the level in juniors for 70/71kg. Or maybe Ariobarzan was just tired, who knows.

Karampour got bronze at junior worlds. He didn't go to u23 worlds. Khalili was meant to go to u23 worlds but ended up going to seniors instead when yazdani got injured. Khoramdel went at 70 to u23 and came 5th.
-
Azarpira got injured in the olympics when Tazudinov laced him. He will come back later in the year. I don't think he would be going even if he was ready. While he is under 23, it seems they want to send a B/inexperienced team to this tournament. I think the team to asian champs will be 57 - valizadeh 61 - Javan 65- ebrahimzadeh 70 - khalili 74 - rezai 79 - yousefi 86 - rahmani 92 - firouzpour 97 - trial winner 125 - masoumi
-
There will be a trial between Mobin Azimi and Babaloo for the 97kg spot at Asian champs. I guess Azimi is a 97 now. They are sending a U23 team to Asian champs this year. At 70 it seems Sina Khalili will go straight to Asian champs, they didn't even invite Elahi to the national camp! I would be pretty angry if I was Elahi, Khalili won one match in Croatia, didn't have to wrestle his semi final because James Green got injured, and got teched in the final. Elahi lost to the Azeri who teched Khalili by a closer margin. I think Khalili has a brighter future but this seems unfair to me. Although of course favouritism is not new in Iranian wrestling.

Geno is inconsistent. His last world title was in 2019 then he wins the Olympics in 2024. He also had some very fortunate draws being opposite side of both Akgul and Zare in 2021, 2022, 2023 AND 2024. Or maybe Georgia was just smart with getting seeding points, I don't know. 2022 he didn't make the final and lost to Mongolia. Considering his age, how long he's been around and finally getting the olympic gold I am going to predict Geno's results dip from here. Could be wrong as I thought after Yaz finally managed to beat Taylor in 2021 that he'd figured Taylor out and would beat him through 2024 and instead he ended up having his worse losses to Taylor in 2022 and 2023 with the matches no longer even being competitive. I would like to Steveson come back. He has a much more pleasing to watch style of wrestling than Zare.

The french guys aren't transfers. They grew up/were born in France to Chechen immigrants parents. But yes there are a lot of transfers to other countries, but I like it. Makes the sport more interesting. There is no realistic way to promote wrestling in a lot of these countries to the point where they have native guys that can hang with the countries with history and high participation rates in the sport. Unfortunately UWW seems to agree with you more than me and it seems they are moving to tighten the regulations on transfers.

79 - Yousefi - Silver, lost 5 - 3 or 5 - 4 in the final to France 92 - firouzpour gold over nurmagomedov 11 - 4. Nurmagomedov teched him in the u23 world finals a few years ago. Ghasempour may even return to this weight, him staying at 86 is not a sure thing. They say he lost weight due to the events of the recent non olympic worlds, lol. And to add to it apparently even Yazdani might come back this year and wrestle , in which case he would l certainly be at 92. My guess is Ghasempour stays at 86. And I don't think Yazdani should come back right away. Mobin Azizi went 0 - 1 losing to Abakarov in the first round 97 - Babalooo silver teched by Snyder in the final 125 - Masoumi - gold
-
Don't think he will have the same success Medal bouts: 57 - Khateri loses 11 - 0 61 - Javan techs Khari and wins gold 65 - Ebrahimzadeh beats McKenna 8 - 6 for gold 70 - Elahi loses to Mexican - American Gomez And Khalili gets destroyed by Azerbaijan 11 - 1. Azeri beat Elahi 10 - 5. I think a wrestle off is fair for the Asian champs spot. Especially since Khalili got to skip a match
-
Yes he is pretty good. They are giving him a lot of opportunities in terms of tournaments . They got unlucky with the brackets here as he hit the best guy immediately ( Valencia) and won't be allowed to wrestle in the repechage due to the Israel policy, so he only ended up getting 1 match. I think he is going to the Asian championships also.

Parris will likely get pushed out seven trillion times

Ranking tournaments all have +2 kg weight allowance -
Semi finals 57 - Khateri teched by Azerbaijan. He will certainly return to juniors. There's no chance he will be a 57 long term with his height and frame. We will see what he can do in higher weight classes in the coming years. Has anyone been more hyped based off winning cadet worlds one time? Lol 61 - Khari beats Momeni 3 - 3 to make the finals. Javan also apparently made the final on the other side although the stream for that mat was broken so I did not see it. 65 - Ebrahimzadeh techs Ukraine in the semi to make the final. On the other side the Georgian loses to American McKenna 3 - 0 so Khoramdel is eliminated. 70 - James Green doesn't show up for the semi final so Khalili goes straight to the final. Elahi loses 10 - 5 in the semi final to Azerbaijan on the other side. So Khalili will need to beat Azerbaijan in the final or I believe they will do a wrestle off between him and Elahi to determine who goes to Asian champs. 74 - Dagestani - Hungarian who beat Rezaei gets teched by Carr of the USA, so Rezai's tournament is over.
-
Khoramdel loses to Georgia 11 - 9 and by pin after going down 7 - 0 at the start of the match. He threw himself to his back with like 20 seconds left and humbly self pinned. Khoramdel is a good wrestler but he starts matches terribly. He may be the new generation Bajrang. Khalili wins his opening match 5 - 2 Rahmani loses 5 - 2 to Valencia and will not be able to wrestle the repechage as Valencia beat Israel in the match prior. Unfortunate as he is 18 or 19 and the experience would have been good. I think he can be good in the future. Elahi at 70 beats the American who beat Musukaev Ebrahimnejad easily beats the french wrestler who beat yasin rezaei. The other Rezaei brother at 74kg loses to Kuragamodev 6 - 1. Rezaei won junior worlds a few months ago but I don't see him going far. He is like a small Goleij.

Khoramdel , Khari and Khateri win their opening matches in Croatia. Rezai ( 65), who was being called the " Iranian Satiev" for winning an empty Iran nationals where every decent wrestler was exempt loses round 1 to France. Does anyone over hype their wrestlers like us? Btw stream is so low quality I think the head of UWW should be thrown in prison for robbing me of 9 euros.
