Japan's new guy at 74, Takahashi, is a gorilla. -
No, he won the Takhti tournament and beat Emami in the finals. All the notable 74 guys were there but the coaches wanted to send them to a international tournament and this time Yazdani ended up losing to Emami in a close match in the finals. Probably would have been fair to setup a wrestle off between them but the coaches love Emami so they gave him the spot at 74. None of them could medal at 74 anyway so Yaz is probably better off at 70 if he can still make it.

This is funny to me: We sent Sina Khalili and Ebrahimzadeh to the Hungary ranking tournament yesterday at 70kg to help determine to world team member. Khalili won bronze and Ebrahimzadeh came 5th. So who made the world team at 70? Amir Yazdani! Lol. Yes, despite not wrestling at 70 the entire year he is officially the world team member. They tried a few guys at 70kg like Khalili, Amouzad's twin brother and Ebrahimzadeh but none of them impressed. And to be honest I can't blame the coaches. Our other 70 guys are simply not at the level to win a medal, there was no point having Yazdani sit out after a close but failed attempt to make the team at 74. So the world team so far: 57 - Momeni 61 - Javan 65 - Amouzad 70 - Yazdani 74 - Emami 79 - to be determined, almost certainly will be Nokhodi 86 - Ghasempour 92 - Firouzpour 97 - Azarpira 125 - Zare

He was the surprise of cadet worlds years ago when they held it in greece if i remember right -
They need to stop letting this Ebrahimzadeh kid wrestle Japan. Just gets abused every time.

From what I saw at junior asians today and yesterday it will be a much weaker team this year for Iran at junior worlds compared to last year.
-
Elahi wont do anything internationally at the senior level unfortunately
-
Maybe he was encouraged by Bazri vs Azarpira, lol. He crushed Bazri when they wrestled a few years back. https://www.aparat.com/v/1Loa5

Lol, not sure how many wrestling fans are even in Armenia for them to hate on him. But he made the right choice. I would think Azerbaijan has better training partners and opportunities. Their program seems better funded to me. Only reason Armenia would have been cool is they are far less successful than Azerbaijan in Freestyle. He could have got them some medals they never won before, maybe even an olympic gold . I don't think most Iranians hate him either, just a few weird people, many of whom have left Iran themselves.

He is still around, just failed to make the junior team this year. He is at 61kg now. Maybe if the guy they send to asian juniors this weekend at 61 flops they will give him another chance.
-
Apparently it is done.
-
Is he Talysh? I never heard that he was before.
-
He just has to wait 2 years from the date of asian champs 2025 and then he doesn't need permission. They threatened to remove him from the u23 team if he doesn't attend the camp. Not sure how much leverage they have over him when he has won a hundred age group world championships.
-
The team has not been set yet, but I think he probably will be.
-
Yaz will come back next year either at 92 or 97. It's very possible it turns out that way. Even if it is at 92, Firouzpour is a miserable guy to wrestle against.
-
He's just a Mazandaran guy, they all get support, lol. He got silver in junior worlds 2016 losing to Mark Hall USA at 74kg and was unable to make another team ever, he has been stuck in Iran. He is very tall, must be around 6'3 or so and looked ridiculous at 74kg back in the day. I don't think he is that good. Azarpira got his takedown and was never in danger of losing. Azarpira has a lot of close scoring matches anyway. I think he should be able to get a bronze or so again.

Azarpira beats bazri 3 - 0 in a one match wrestle off to make the world team. Iran world team so far 57 - momeni 61- javan 65 - amouzad 70 - to be determined 74 - emami 79 - to be determined 86 - ghasempour 92 - firouzpour 97 - azarpira 125 - zare

They will go to worlds for all age groups, unless of course fighting starts back up. They even have a few trials coming up for world team spots. Azarpira vs Bazri for the 97kg spot is this Friday. You could say as far as wrestling goes the country is back to normal. And the FS team is going go Hungary. 70 and 79 world reps will be determined there, or it will at least be a stage in the selection process.

Not sure, Amouzad lost to Mamedov at 67kg in that Iran vs Russia event. About that olympic final, the only thing the coaches ever said was that Kiyooka was a bad match up for him. I never heard anything about weight. I would be interested to see Amzouad and him hit day 1 this time and see if the weight thing had any impact. I suspect if weight was in issue it would have show on day 1 also but we will see.
-
Can Kiyooka be the first guy to go back to back at 65/66 in nearly 20 years?
-
We were wrong, iran will be at worlds
