Being a leg rider (and leg riding coach) it is easy to tell that the OP and many commenting against Nagao's use of arm across the throat don't understand leg riding. While I didn't apply this move while using legs or teach it, I understand it. It's fine, unless you apply it like Fix. Although the Fix pic earlier in the thread is more pressure on the lower back since it requires fix to pull up under the chin. Try to choke someone with your hand on the shoulder. Your elbow actually goes away from the throat. I actually think that move is much less effective than many others he could do instead. And it's much less danders.than many used to turn that put joints in danger.

Part of the issue is the changing psyche of the new generation wrestler. It's happening in high school rooms and high School classrooms and college rooms and college classrooms. If coaches don't change, if teachers don't change, the way they approached the new generation it will be much harder to get them to perform. I have been in the classroom for over 20 years and in the wrestling room for over 20 years and I wrestled myself for almost 20 years. Kids are different. Teachers, coaches, mentors need to change how they work with their students/athletes if they want to get the best out of them. That's why NIL is a thing and that's why many college football coaches have fled to the NFL.

The thing that many people are missing is that it is a muted message. He is giving you a punchline but that's not the biggest part of the message. without the biggest part of the message The end is meaningless. If an extremely rare counter athletes jumps out of the mat with little work epic wins an NCAA title and then says, it doesn't mean anything you can't take it with you. The message is lost. The message is it's about the process. His process is working in suffering for the Lord. And many other people's process, is working except for the outcome. And, he did give the ant-Miuslim speech last year, thus there is a hangover. He also has a way of delivering his so-called message with a bit too much piety, a better than thou tone, a this is the way it is and your opinion doesn't matter. As he was answering questions last night, he was brushing her off as if she didn't matter, as if her questions didn't matter, as if talking to the people who support him doesn't matter. It's in his delivery as much as his message for those who don't like his message. I get his message. I don't mind his message. I don't like his delivery. I sure do like watching him wrestle though.

Recent influx of Caels and Kaels in wrestling
wrestlingshoe replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Yet you participated in the madness. -
Such is the life of the interweb... Guess we can choose to think for ourselves or have others think for us.

Don't know. Just saying there's no way he's never wrestled FS before and the person who said he he never had maybe misunderstood what he said.

53 minutes of Taylor v Yazdani
wrestlingshoe replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in International Wrestling
Fun to see the matches back to back. And he looks visibly bigger now than he did in the first match. He grew into the weight nicely. -
Maybe he said... 1st senior level or first since high school.
-
So... David is doing it right. He's a positive role model for our young wrestlers.
-
I wouldn't guess, speculate, surmise why he did it except to believe what he said in the video. Balancing life. As he said, after a while, 100% focus on wrestling is unsustainable. If DTs life is an example of of what is possible through wrestling in America... sign me up. Make him the poster child for USA Wrestling. He seems to be the most balanced multiple World/Olympic champ I have witnessed.

Iowa should STILL welcome the Ferraris

I agree. I have read what he said. I don't agree with Brooks. I disagree that you can't respect or even believe what other religions believe. -

I agree with you... The problem is, far right Christians have a narrow view of humanity... It is their way or no way. -

There are cross overs in most religions. Some people even believe that God revealed themself differently in different religions with same basic principles. Just because you didn't think one religion can't support/respect/legitimize parts of other religions, doesn't mean others don't do it. By the way, Brooks is 23. Wonder if he would say the same thing when he is 33. -
Not a movie, but can't do without a dose of Festivus.
-
He looks like he did what I wish I did in college. Stop cutting weight keep lifting and wrestle to my potential. But that's not what we did in the 80s and early 90s. He is the prototype of what American wrestlers should be.

Christian Pyles as Move-by-Move Matside Announcer
wrestlingshoe replied to KennyEBHS's topic in College Wrestling
In the All Star Classic thread there were some naysayers. I pointed out n that thread that we are fortunate to have access to as much online wrestling as we do and Tayler adds a level that many can't. A few found fault with his take on matches... I like both he and Pyles. -
Christian Pyles as Move-by-Move Matside Announcer

I find it funny, first there was a thread complaining about DT's commentary at the All Star Classic. Now there's a thread complaining about Pyles commentary CKLV. No need for color or play by play. Everyone watching knows enough. Just play the silent video feed. -
Thanks for using language that fits your intellect.

So says the person using hyperbole. And yes, if two people disagree there is an argument.
-
It's interesting when someone tries to win an argument by hyperbolic verbiage.... It is neither as nice as a silk purse or as bad as a a sow's ear... the broadcast was good. I have been with flow since the get go as well. I watch 4K with great surround sound at home, as well as pod casts of all different quality. Access to info, video, news in all formats has changed. I would love if Flow was higher quality and easier to navigate, but it has improved a lot and I'm glad to have the access and content.
-
Not last night, but the more Taylor commentates the more he may get bigger gigs... NCAAs, Olympics... He is good for the sport. And, I think you are missing something with the Flow broadcast... Nothing wrong with the broadcast of the matches and commentary in the background. Especially since so many people are used to watching pod casts, YouTube channels, streamed sports in other arenas. I watch MLS on Apple TV and that leaves a lot to be desired. People watch the goofy Manning MNF which is not much above amateur broadcasting. I'm just happy we get to see all the streamed wrestling. Not long ago most of wrestling could have been done in a back alley for all we knew since we never got to witness it.
-
I'd take those ears if his accolades came with.
-
It speaks for itself if you know wrestling. We need a commentator who can explain to the masses and Taylor can do that.
