  1. If it happens, everyone should re-read their Freud (and also Jung): the son attempts to slay the powerful father (figure). The father (Sanderson), however, might circumvent this situation by bringing aboard his "offspring" (Taylor) and making him an assistant coach and the apparent heir to the family business. What would even be more intriguing is if Taylor brought along his pal, Dake, and maybe a lightweight coach, Zain. The odds of any of this happening are long, though. But Farmer Taylor might itch for a new challenge.
  2. I see Penn State redshirting Kasak when SVN returns. I could also imagine MM and Haines switching places.
  3. Fear and anxiety perhaps? Wrestling not to lose rather than to win maybe?
  4. Who said that? Is Hidlay Jewish? I know he likes hoagies, but are they kosher ones?
  5. Um .... the best team in college wrestling history.
  6. I hope Hidlay wrestles and doesn't keep backing to OOB line. On paper at least, it should be a battle royale. Hidlay and Brooks have a lot of similarities: short, muscular, underhook specialists, undefeated, and big gas tanks. Both have also upped their game at 197 this year by tech-ing most everyone. Brooks, however, has beaten Hidlay every time in the past.
  7. Penn State has 168 1/2 points. If Brooks win the final match, they will break the all-time point record with 172 1/2 points (without possible bonus).
  8. I will be very surprised if he makes that weight and is effective, especially against guys like JB or Nolf or KOT, not to mention Dake. I will be less surprised if he gives 86KG a go.
  9. Well, I wasn't thinking that, but now that you mention it ... there would be no riding time in freestyle and they would have been on their feet the whole match, which frankly would have favored Mesenbrink over time. But of course you have to win within the rule set and Carr did that. Mesenbrink should have known about RT but it was probably the first time it came into play against him all season. All that I'm saying is that I think I would favor M. in a rematch at folkstyle (which won't happen because Carr graduates) and at freestyle
  10. Hope Carr runs into Mesenbrink at Olympic Trials where Carr will be called for passivity a lot more. Nolf tech-ed Carr twice in freestyle. And I can't see Carr beating KOT either.
  11. I see you are confessing that you belong to a generation that isn't interested in facts, statistics or reading. You apparently tweet, surf, doom scroll and select information that already reinforces your emotional state. It's called confirmation bias, but I guess you aren't interested in that either. Did I offend your belief in imaginary beings?
  12. Amazing coincidence. God always seems to be on the side of the winner. I would like someone to thank their family genes or random mutation in evolution for their victory.
  13. Ride a rider and throw a thrower
  14. Gomez trying to go big and is digging an early grave
  15. Love it. Gomez getting go-gomezed
  16. Almost as long as that match between Suriano and Fix years ago in high school that lasted 26 minutes
  17. Two warriors. Got to respect both Fix and Vito. Maybe they will meet again at Olympic trials at 57KG
  18. Vito's Dad is going to rush John Smith and challenge him in a minute to a match
  19. The NCAA might have to extend the time of the venue rental agreement if the 133 pound match keeps going with all these stoppages
  20. "Hey Bernie, How do you feel about 5th place instead of your perennial 4th? Will you now have to change the tattoo on your arm from IV to V? And what are you going to do with the Roman numeral "I"? Does it go to Starocci or Brooks?"
  21. Tyler Kasak read this thread last night and was not happy. He took it out on and majored a former #1 Nebraska guy, who did not Love It
  22. Fix might have to embrace the nickname "Bridesmaid" if he loses in the finals again. He also finished second (silver medal) at Senior World's one year and was runner up at Final X recently. Aside: I'm actually rooting for him to get the monkey off his back today, though Vito seems to have switched gears in this tournament after a season of the doldrums.
  23. Why the anti-Trent Hidlay hate "Anti(?)"troll? I'm curious. A comparison with his brother or with humanity as a whole?
  24. To me, it's pretty obvious: Brooks if he wins for both awards. He has bonused everyone this year, except in his first match with Iowa. He has bonused his way through NCAAs. He doesn't have the "blemish" of two "losses" this year that Starocci has. And Starocci hasn't bonused anyone at NCAAs. I don't think sentimentalism for Starocci's injury should play a role.
