  1. Banking on Sasso to be as successful as he had been is a big stretch. Up 2 weights (weight classes do matter), and surviving a serious gunshot would to his core (which his style relies upon immensely). I wish him the best and would love to see the Cinderella story of the comeback, but it's a LOT to overcome.
  2. 125: Lilledahl if he doesn't RS. If he does, the weight is wide open. Why not Ramos? I don't think Richie Figs runs the gauntlet again. 133: Bouzakis. I think he has a chip on his shoulder and ready to break thru. Training with Mendez daily helps make that happen. 141: Mendez: beat Alirez at BTS. Heck of a match. Does it again. 149: Van Ness: comes back better than ever over Henson. 157: Shapiro. 165: Mesenbrink. 174: O'Toole over Haines. Gets revenge, just like he had done to Carr previously. 184: Starocci. Makes history over Keck. Must watch match. 197: Cardenas. Ferrari is everyone's pick but I think it's been too much time off and at this level, results can be in the margins. 285: kerkvliet Way too early. Some alternative picks. I reserve and revel in the right to be wrong.
  3. Yes. He will get bigger and probably settle into 65kg. Adding muscle to that technique and defense and he will be very good
  4. O'Toole Rulez!
  5. The international scene doesn't compete as often. The grind of the collegiate season is significant. These factors may impact overall success, but, it doesn't change my perspective that he'd be a multi-time champ. He may take losses, as everyone not named Cael has...
  6. Ohio State would welcome DT back "home" with open arms... same with Wyoming.
  7. Vito needs to chat with Micic about his diet plan. Clearly worked for him
  8. Meh. We are all predicting and projecting on what we think. Someone is going to be right and someone will be wrong. I just happened to be on the side that was right this time is all!
  9. There's a scenario where Sadulaev loses in the Semi's, setting up a potential Snyder/Sadulaev for Bronze.
  10. Regarding Shapiro and Mesenbrink. Yes. They just won worlds U20s. Yes. This bodes well for forecasting their NCAA success. We should just temper expectations a bit though. There are are some very good wrestlers still in their way.
  11. Calling it now. Elor, if she can stay healthy, will be recognized as the greatest woman, or maybe regardless of gender, wrestler in US History. Given her age, and her accolades to-date, she has MANY years of absolute domination ahead of her. I will be very curious which direction, weight-wise, she chooses for the OLY cycle. Has this been made public yet? I simply cannot fathom, at this point, anyone being able to compete with her, even at 76kg.
  12. We always tell our kids to "Never leave it in the hands of the officials." This will be a good video to show our young'uns.
  13. I think Carroll can medal. I think he's not close to Masoumi. I think he's close to Feldman. I think Carroll gets teched, and then comes back to wrestle for Bronze.
  14. Question: in looking at Final X participants, are the 20 guys fighting for the 10 MFS weights, the most decorated of all time? I have no records to compare, but have to think that it is: 57kg: Gilman. Multiple medals 61kg: Vito/Nakhon. No world medals 65: Yianni. Medalist 70: Zain. Medalist 74: Dake. Multiple medals 79: JB. with Multiple medals 86: Taylor. Magic Man with Multiple medals 92: Mach/Zahid: strong international resume 97: Snyder / Cox: tremendous amount of combined medals 125: Gable. Gold Medalist Any other year compare?
  15. Here's my uneducated guesses and takes on what the tOSU lineup could look like next year: 125: Gonzalez / McCrone / Transfer: I like the glimpses that we've seen from both Gonzalez and McCrone, but I don't think either are contenders within the Big 10's, let alone NCAA's. This is a big hole currently for the buckeyes. 133: Mendez / Bouzakis: Logjam of two super talents, both capable of AA'ing. One should man 141 next year, and one should stay at 133. I'd like to see Mendez bulk up to 141, as I think his natural freestyle weight (aspirational) will be 65kg. 141: Bouzakis / D'Emilio: I listed Bouzakis first, because I think he'll ultimately be the starter, with the subsequent weight changes below. 149: D'Emilio / Sasso: With Bouzakis moving to 141, this allows D'Emilo to eat, and to go 149, which allows 157: Sasso / Gallagher: Sasso to take the reigns at 157, allowing him to eat, and then slide nicely into the 70kg conversations for world team opportunities 165: Hepner / Gallagher: Everyone's moving on up, so it'll be a dogfight between Hepner (with a win over Kharchla previously) and Gallagher, at large NCAA qualifier that went 2-2 174: Kharchla: Carson finally gets to eat, and swells up to 174 184: Shumate / Geog: I think Geog may have outgrown the weight, but if not, I'd take Geog. 197: Hoffman / Geog: I think Hoff still has 1 year left? If not, Geog. 285: Feldman: Time for this guy to show the world what he's got. Summary: 125: NQ. DNP 133: Mid-AA 141: Low AA 149: Low AA 157: Title Contender 165: NQ. DNP 174: Low AA 184: NQ. DNP 197: NQ. DNP HWT: Low AA
