  1. Yes, the sky is falling at the Big R. My brother wrestled at Rutgers from 1988-91. He would've killed for this type of chaos. Successful teams lose coaches all the time for new/better gigs, better pay, more responsibility, etc., particularly at the end of an Olympic quad. Congrats, Rutgers fan base - you've made it. Enjoy the irrationality that comes with it.
  2. I just want to congratulate CSUB for this release regarding Ferrari's transfer. It is absolute perfection. It neither acknowledges Ferrari's past issues or admits that the college is selling its soul for a return to wrestling relevance. The photo of AJ is the chef's kiss. Do you think AJ dropped this pose on the first shot or that the photographer ever tried to say, "Hey, how about a simple head shot just for the records?" https://gorunners.com/news/2024/9/4/wrestling-smith-adds-ncaa-champion-aj-ferrari-to-bakersfield-roster.aspx?utm_source=Wrestling+News&utm_campaign=1b69b6afb1-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2022_09_28_09_07_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_44607e8210-1b69b6afb1-245377111&mc_cid=1b69b6afb1&mc_eid=e17780a615
  3. I think AJ's chances of making it to the 2nd semester are 50/50. Which would be a shame, because I would love to see Starocci hammer him at NCAAs.
  4. My plan is to prepay a ridiculous amount of money on tickets, accommodations, etc...and then watch my son qualify for a killer swim meet that same weekend that forces me to cancel everything.
  5. "Happy" to lay the blame at Bloomsburg's feet if what you say is true. At some point, the adults at Bloomsburg had to figure out that Kemmerer wouldn't accept the job with the terms they offered. No reason this had to drag out so long. No one's looking good with today's announcement.
  6. Bloomsburg "fired" their former coach on or around May 8th. A deal to bring back Stutzman, or any coach, couldn't be done before today? Stutzman didn't know he would be offered the Bloomsburg job when he took the Davidson gig this week? (Not absolving Stutzman of blame here.) Bloomsburg needed Davidson to hire Stutzman this week to know it really wanted him back like some sort of 1980s romcom? Again, where are the adults in this process?
  7. USA Wrestling not so fast on the editing: https://www.themat.com/news/2024/august/13/stutzman-clothier-join-davidson-wrestling-staff
  8. Davidson University site already retconned. Nothing to see here, folks... https://davidsonwildcats.com/news/2024/8/13/clothier-joins-wrestling-staff
  9. So, how exactly does Stutzman to Davidson and back to Bloomsburg in the same week happen in a world where adults are running athletic departments?
  10. DT setting a tone and letting the guys know there's a new boss in town. Of course, if Williams were a national championship contender there would probably be third and fourth chances. Life isn't fair.
  11. Great wrestling by Blades. So raw. Her future is so bright
  12. No RTCs would mean no RTC money keeping best wrestlers competing after college. The lack of top Americans in the UFC over the last decade is due directly to the fact the RTCs oay better than fighting. And, no, the money wouldn’t flow to these athletes in the same way if they were all in Colorado Springs. The competition among the schools has been a good thing for the RTC athletes
  13. Yup, Helen was probably 2nd best at this weight.
  14. She's 26, but it was a physical mismatch from the start. Taylor looked a weight class smaller than Helen, and didn't seem too surprised by the match outcome. https://olympic.ca/team-canada/hannah-taylor/
  15. I'm thrilled for Helen, and happy she got to wrestle a 13 year old for an Olympic medal.
  16. These two are in the same weight class?
  17. Spencer has been very gracious on the medal stand. Love to see it.
  18. An Olympic gold medal is out there. Do what you have to do. This isn't youth wrestling.
  19. The UWW Secretary General does not look like he ever wrestled.
  20. Not yet. Up either this bout or next, but there will be a medal ceremony at 57 KG first
  21. That assumes Yazdani dislocates his shoulder against Brooks in the opening seconds. These freakish injuries like this seem to happen more often in MMA than wrestling. Wondering if Yazdani was hurt during his warm up.
  22. Mad respect to Yazdani. This match should've been stopped after the 98th injury time.
  23. Good call on the slip
  24. This is becoming a farce
