I think his best weight will be 84 but we don’t have a heir apparent at 97. He has never had to cut and if he doesn’t want to no need now.

Man, I’m not going to lie, Rocky transferring out of Mizzou is like a stab in the heart. I would have lost my house on that bet.

Currently active wrestlers that would make great coach
Wrestej replied to Dark Energy's topic in College Wrestling
Sorry to go off topic a bit but it was and is interesting to me the names listed for wanting to see coach. Even most high level coaches in wrestling now. Most are exceptional to great. I can’t really think of another high level, or top level, sport that has the best of their sport coaching at the highest levels. I’m sure there are a couple examples but for the most not the case. -
You can never have enough talent in the room. Mendoza doesn’t strike me as the type to run from a challenge.

I saw an interview from AAs with Steed saying himself, Williams, and I forget the third mentioned but they all trained together for quite some time. So I’m sure Steed and Williams are still close friends so he might have a better insight to if Williams learned a valuable lesson. Just a guess

I don’t know for sure but Mocco walked away with a Doctorate. If Mocco got to stay I don’t know why Rocky wouldn’t.
-
I can see him being done wrestling competitively before him leaving Mizzou for another school.

Lost 125 and 197 for year with injury. Elam(285), Mocco, Mauller, graduated. Moore at 133 has not been the same since he was repeatedly stabbed with a broken bong by a girlfriend’s ex jilted lover. Hard year this year but have what appears to be a really good recruiting class coming in so should be turned around in a couple years

I sounds like he is already speculating. Did you mean elaborate?

O’Toole beat Gallagher 12-1 at who’s number 1

We just had another one in Luke Lilledahl but he decided to move to Pennsylvania and go to Wyoming Seminary. Worked out good for him but he would have been great wherever he went to high school. St. Charles would have been nice though

Hell I only live 25 minutes from Howell. I knew nothing about it. Francis Howell and the whole area has a pretty rich history of wrestling. Sammie Henson went to high school at Howell.

Has Whiting been cutting for some time. I know at Mizzou he was 184 and didn’t look like he could drop 10-20lbs and keep his strength/stamina. Just curious.

I guess I’m not explaining well. There will be no more NCAA. They will not have to be or will be affiliated with a university. They will be an out in the open minor league system or maybe a new business venture to challenge current professional sport. Once the money is gone from football and basketball (the big revenue sports) athletic departments in universities will go away. They will have nothing to offset the losses. Maybe a few places would have alumni willing to give endowments for certain sports but nowhere near enough to make a viable conference let alone conferences. What do you think maybe 6-10 schools could come up with enough for wrestling. That is not going to be sustainable. Same with most of, if not all, of the other sports. They will also more than likely go the private business route and try to make money or go the way of the do do bird. They have exposed to the world what everyone already knew it’s “big business” and it is out in the open now. No hiding all the BS. So look out because get ready for all the vultures to start swooping in, because if there is one thing a wealthy businessman likes it opportunity to get in first for the next big thing because that is where most of the money is made.
-
The way I understand it is the only money makers are football and basketball. I’m sure there are a couple exceptions at different schools but you’re talking about one offs. All other sport will be cut. Like I said before, hope I’m wrong.
-
Before they were under the mask of amateurs affiliated or going to specific universities and competing against others of the same ilk. No need for the illusion anymore. They are paid athletes for hire. More than likely in a span of about 10 years will lose all connection with universities and be an entity all on their own. And just like any business anything that doesn’t produce dollars will get cut out. Which is the vast majority of the other sports being played. Hope I’m wrong but business is business.
-
I feel that collegiate sports are in general coming to an end. Now that the cat has been let out of the bag as far as paying for athletes it will probably take the same route other business takes. Business isn’t worried about anything besides money.

Seth Nitzel should be able to come back. He was only a junior last year.
-
If Sinclair wrestles in the line up next year it won’t be at 197 unless he puts on about 10-15 lbs of muscle and cuts some fat. So I doubt that will happen. Elam doesn’t have enough ass for heavy. Those big boys would just lean on him and gas him out.
-
I just can’t see Rocky being a legit heavy. Took Zack a solid 3yrs. to grow into a solid heavyweight.
-
If Schultz wants a good room to train Greco he better head to the other side of the world.
-
You are correct.

I would think with RBY sucking down to 57kg Lee would smash him. First half tech.
