I stepped away to check on the PA high school team tournament and now Rutgers is up 15-3. Slaughter.

Peterson just runs over Steen for another takedown.

4-1 Rutgers at the end of the first period.

Interesting symmetry between the far left-hand (low) side of the distribution and the far right. Some posters need to keep this in mind before they complain about high school underclassmen wrestling varsity at 107 -- some of these young wrestlers grow into middle weights and some will be future college 125 pounders. Eliminate the high school opportunity for small guys, or guys who are later developers, and you'll lose some future college wrestlers. But, of course, I am biased. signed, Lightweight

So glad this was not another duck picture...

Yet, the element Einsteinium was discovered/named in 1952, and Einstein didn't die until 1955. -
Agreed. I don't usually have any problem with the stream on BTN+. Although the broadcasting has high variance - the kid doing the PSU vs Indiana match Sunday was another one of these guys who sees "players" on the mat...

Summary from the Pitt Athletics Website: PITTSBURGH—In a candidate for NCAA Dual of the Season in 2022-23 college wrestling, No. 18 Pitt dropped a heartbreaker on total points criteria to No. 3 Iowa State, 16-15, in front of a raucous overflow crowd of 2,162 fans on Saturday night at the Fitzgerald Field House. The Panthers (9-3, 3-0 ACC) and Cyclones (14-2, 6-0 Big 12) split the 10 matches evenly – all by decision. Iowa State won the dual thanks to a 51-44 edge in total points scored across the entire dual. "Well, that was a heartbreaker at the end but it was outstanding entertainment for a great crowd," Pitt head coach Keith Gavin said. "We're very appreciative of all the fans. Overall, I'm proud of our guys and their effort. We continue to get better, but we need to keep building and working hard." Pitt made a strong start, winning the first three bouts by decision. No. 33 Colton Camacho won with a dramatic sudden-victory takedown over Caleb Fuessley at 125 pounds before No. 6 Micky Phillippi and No. 3 Cole Matthews both earned tight wins by 5-4 scorelines at 133 and 141, respectively. The Cyclones responded with three consecutive wins of their own, but Pitt's trio did well in those matches to avoid conceding bonus points against the ranked Iowa State wrestlers. With the dual tied 9-9 heading to 174 pounds, Luca Augustine came up clutch again for the Panthers, defeating MJ Gaitan with a late takedown to put Pitt back in front. That win followed up his upset of No. 8 Clay Lautt of North Carolina on Friday night to secure the dual win for his team. After Iowa State won at 184 pounds to tie it again, No. 2 Nino Bonaccorsi sent the Fitz into a frenzy with a late takedown and nearfall points to beat No. 5 Yonger Bastida, 6-4, in the showcase 197-pound bout. Bonaccorsi remained undefeated on the season with yet another ranked win. "Nino stayed the course and finally broke through," Gavin said. "He wrestled a great match against a very high-level wrestler. It wasn't easy to score against his stingy defense, but persistence paid off. He loved that he got to face Yonger tonight. He wanted that challenge and embraced it. That's a big deal." At heavyweight, No. 5 Dayton Pitzer was on the verge of giving Pitt its first dual win against a top-three team in program history, leading No. 10 Sam Schuyler late. But Schuyler worked a takedown in the final 10 seconds to win by 4-3 decision and stun the crowd that was ready to celebrate a classic victory. See below for full results from Saturday's epic Pitt-Iowa State dual. The Panthers travel to NC State next Friday night for a decisive ACC dual. Pitt can clinch an outright conference dual title for the first time since 2014 with a victory in Raleigh. #3 Iowa State 16, #18 Pitt 15 125: No. 33 Colton Camacho (Pitt) dec. And now we know why Michigan wrestlers are always at the top of the podium in underwater wrestling tournaments.

Did they get your license number, or did you swap the plate out when you got the van back to the UPS depot?

Hey, don't make fun of Jimmy. It is harder for some kids to graduate in only four years. Be kind.

Yes, in Morgantown she could see the coast from the light of the burning couches. -
Spencer - get standing O at Penn State?

Thanks for the link. I think we can agree to disagree on this one. You were rooting for DeSanto and I was rooting the Lee, the WPIAL guy (plus the history), so we probably both saw/heard what we wanted to see/hear. (I will, however, point out that your guy was wearing the black singlet. Just sayin'...) -

I saw that match and I don't know why you think you recall that. The kid was wearing a heavy knee brace and was only out there because if he won he'd be a 4x undefeated PA state AAA champ. I thought people were pulling for him, either out of sympathy/respect for him toughing out his injury and/or so that they could say later that they witnessed some history. -
Pitzer wrestled for Pitt vs Va Tech last night. Beat Catka in SV.

Tom Brands hasn’t seen anyone better than Lee

Yeah, just another silver medalist guy taking a loss in his last match while trying to go undefeated at his level for four years. Must be a bunch of guys in that category. -
Tough when you can't hear the questions being asked. But he certainly came across as at ease with the whole format, mature, etc. I hope he finishes the season injury-free and our next national champ at 125.

Being late is ok, but did you bring a housewarming gift? Bottle of wine? Something?

This is going to end right on time for the Iowa/Wisconsin match. Hopefully that will be a little more competitive.

Currently live on B10+. Rutgers leads after the first three matches.

Poor choice by BearClaw there at the end of the period. I think he could have just stayed with the whizzer and run out the clock. I don't think RT was locked up.
