  1. This sport is so humbling
  2. I hope hardy brings it like this in 2 weeks
  3. Imar looks like he's 230lbs
  4. I always thought bouzakis would be more competitive with the best around the country coming out of high school and so far it just seems like he's at his ceiling
  5. Maybe bouzakis will beat him on the backside?
  6. Any idea how he passed? So young at 50...
  7. Really wild seeing all those surgeries laid out like that and never having seen much of it talked about on the boards or by commentators during is college career. What he's accomplished in the face of all those interruptions and physical adversity is fairly remarkable. With his wrestling mind and overall demeanor I feel he could make a great coach one day if that's something he chooses to do.
  8. Just came here to start a similar topic and you beat me to it! The Japanese wrestlers including the Otoguro's seem to be really great down to earth people but not surprising considering their culture. 100% agree Flo has done a fantastic job with the content creation this week, almost was able to get my wife to sit through a whole 10 minute video... One thing I would add is, in light of the Olympic/world results last year- do you think the US is trying to get as many of the Japanese wrestlers over here as they can to see if there are any learning opportunities? Along with creating opportunities for our guys, I would think it also has to be a little bit reconnaissance for our RTCs to get to better understand what the best guys in the world our doing. One last question I had was where are the Japanese coaches? Seems like their guys are pretty intertwined in the schools they came to train with but I'm surprised not to see any of their coaches in the video clips that have been posted. really looking forward to tonight!
  9. Question- can your 5 events as a true freshman include a big 10 and ncaa championship tournament and still maintain 4 years of eligibility?
  10. Love this post haha... people can be more than just 1 thing
  11. Would love to see him make a big time come back and at least get the chance to wrestle in the Olympics before he hangs it up.
  12. This was crazy, couldn't believe seeing it while I was watching it
  13. They definitely came in with the hard close of cash after the PSU/Iowa dual... Bo said earlier all the NIL dollars were comparable which I now entirely don't believe because that decision doesn't get fast tracked with that order of events and timing with similar money...
  14. Whoever had the take of some booster(s) being pissed about the beat down by PSU and throwing the kitchen sink ($$$) at him to close the deal nailed it....
  15. Will this tournament be streaming anywhere?
  16. Asking sincerely- in what ways would they be more disciplined than our guys for example?
  17. I know we always played the what if game - at 65kg especially - but the problem I think with Yianni getting out of the US could be his training mindset. He more than any of our guys wrestles in the manner that we've been seeing at the Olympics. He's got that soft touch tie up with quick burst and timing on the drop singles that we're seeing and can find ways to get in. (often times while getting in scoring opportunities he also is giving up points too much) However, when it comes to domestic competition- it seems like he's trained to wrestle all the guys he'll see overseas and he finds himself at our trials and domestic events in hybrid folk/freestyle matches that looks like is catching him off guard or unprepared for... My intent is not to make excuses for Yianni and I was so pulling for Zain to do big things here but it just seems like Yianni always has a shot in some of these matches. I believe his second match with the Iranian he lost on a 4-4 criteria and he's beaten Tevanyan and Musakaev so he's seemingly right there but just needs a little push over the hill assuming he can get by domestic competition...
  18. Well in order for that not to happen it's gotta be Zain or Snyder getting gold...
  19. Would love to see Cruz get a bronze... seems like such a great dude
  20. I don't agree with all the NLWC hate going on right now but I will say Cody/Casey/McKnight & Nick Lee to an extent have had somewhat mediocre college and International results given the standards the Penn State set haha...
  21. How much does the guy that does the Challenge reviews/summaries love saying "Challenge Lost!" I may include this into my wrestling vernacular
  22. I mentioned in the other thread how great Japan is wrestling and how they deserve to be in the conversation with Russians/Iranians as best all around teams in the world. As it stands now they have a chance to have multiple gold medals in Greco Men's and Women's... I know some guys travel around and train with different countries, have any of our guys gone to Japan? I know Chamizo did but didn't seem to translate to results for him this year. Is their "it" factor due to training methods or could it be more of a cultural aspect that makes them so well rounded? Amazing gas tanks, fantastic composure and extremely tactical. Thoughts?
  23. Japan has some kind of "it" factor going on... they (especially their top tier) just seem so calm and wrestle with a lot of precision and very few mistakes... They legit could end up with multiple golds in Greco/mens/womens... I know they've always been tough but it seems more now they deserve to be in the conversation with Iran/Russia as toughest opponents to draw. Also, they don't seem to gas anywhere near as much as all of their competition. Sure they're tired but I rarely see them trying to gulp the air like everyone else...
  24. I was at the Bills practice yesterday and saw Steveson getting after it... hope he makes the practice squad and continues to develop, would be a great story.
