I merely was observing a different point in history where people had the same thoughts as you and considered it to be "infringing" on their freedom or "controlling" them. There are always certain sides of history that when looking back, there was a clear dividing line to be on. Slave owners/non-slave owners people that fought against civil rights/ those that fought for civil rights people that beat up African Americans for sitting in a diner/ those that marched with them across a bridge Those that didn't want black kids to go to school with white kids/ those that fought against segregation Those that revere confederate generals and fly the confederate flag/ Those that dont and realize the pain the confederacy put the country through Those that refused to wear masks to avoid passing sickness to their fellow countrymen /those that didn't have a problem wearing a piece of cloth on their face Those that use the N word/ Those that realized certain words are dehumanizing and adjusted accordingly Those that were repulsed by gay people and said they weren't allowed to get married - and those that accepted their choice to live who they wanted Those that refuse to listen to kids when they say they feel different and deny them respect/ those that do listen and try to understand and adjust Those that thought Nazis marching in Charlottesville consisted of "good" people and ran over counter protesters- you get the picture... and on and on and on Its not hard to find a through line of these kinds of people having overlapping views throughout history and being cut from similar cloths. Am I maybe over generalizing? Sure, a little. But I would be willing to bet big the people that beat the hell out of black people and didn't want black kids in schools back then are the same people that support MAGA today and scream that the sky is falling when someone uses a bathroom of their self identified gender. It is possible for people to change their minds and we always have to be welcoming and leave room for that. But I will never tolerate hate and the inability to see past our own 4 walls. I too have a family and want to take care of them the best I can. I just would never think helping to stop the spread of a virus that hasn't happened on a scale since the Spanish flu was in some way contradictory to that. History always repeats itself, it just comes dressed a little differently each time.

The great thing about being on an open forum is that when someone says something so obviously hyperbolic and mischarcterized as to what really happened, I can then comment on it being so. You and millions and millions of others experience anxiety and depression. To say it's all because someone had you stand 6 feet apart, and wear a mask to the grocery store probably means you should find a new therapist or change SSRI's.

This paints a picture of an old man that has not evolved with society. The mischaracterization and hyperbole in the post above is off the charts. Using certain language controls you? Maybe you still want to call black people by a certain N word? I swear you would have been one of the people saying "why do they get to use the same water flountain as me?? Now I'm not allowed to sit in front of the bus!?!?- they are controlling me!" Standing 6 feet apart to lower the spread of a virus we hadn't figured out yet that was overloading the healthcare system??? Oh the humanity! How dare they make me wear a mask so that if I cough or sneeze, I'm not u knowingly shedding virus... Half of the shit you listed happened under Trump...

Tell me you know nothing of the principles of "the free market" without telling me.

Ranked choice voting would be a step in that direction. The electoral also needs to go. It is good to have all states in the country in play and everyone's vote having equal value from a general election standpoint. It would avoids billion dollars being spent in just one swing state to decide an election. Candidates should have to reach all Americans and earn their votes. The competition without the electoral college I think would lead to greater bipartisanship and keep politicans a little more honest. It would also keep party fringe members at bay as well.

Don't over do it, I like mine rare...

I agree, although I will add that it is important to hold those accountable table that engaged in corrupt and illegal actions. I think jumping straight to a Trump impeachment would be a big mistake... It does sound like there is support on both sides of the aisle to remove Hegseth though so we'll see. It will be difficult to pass legislation if Trump does decide to just veto everything but I do think there were some measures he was in support of that democrats should get behind like calling interest rates on credit cards. Hopefully we see some bipartisanship especially now that yhe right doesn't have to worry about Trump wrath.

Some very historic wins tonight for the progressive party. Hard to understate the significance of wins in places like Texas, South Carolina, Kansas and Georgia... Hopefully we can start to get away from both morally and ethically corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle and see some more cooperation in our government while also holding those to account that need to be. Its important the left focuses on economic issues first while introducing more decency into our politics. I think all people are tired of the fighting and nastiness that has been going on for far too long. We need adults in the room again that put country above party.

Let's call facists MAGA and the dummies will never know? Does that logic work for that as well? -
Maybe im just riding high from a recently completed tournament this weekend but my oh my, hard not to be excited. A few thoughts: A couple years ago I was a little worried that a lot of our top talent was aging out but man has the next group stepped up and we have some fantastic depth at weight classes as well. Spencer Lee- literally shed a tear for him after he won. Couldn't be happier that he did it, absolute warrior. Blaze was literally right there and a challenge away from being a world champ in my opinion Bo- it's all been said already Zain- rolling back the clock looking great Haines feels like he's quietly accumulating World titles and doesn't appear to be slowing down. I don't know why it feels quiet to me but he just seems like a slow moving avalanche. Dake- He could be the rep in 28 which is nuts. I want to see him win 4 world titles at 4 different weights. Does anyone think he can't?? Snyder- Really impressive run and glad he was able to capitalize on beating Sad and winning it all. Obligatory "not a fan of him off that mat at all" but happy he contributed to us winning a team title. Felt like there were only a couple times where we didn't win matchups against Iran and Russia which feels different from the past. Last but not least- The US is doing this while half these guys' careers give or take is spent doing a different style and this is the show we put on. Hard to imagine what it would be like on a world level with athletes only focusing on freestyle from the beginning. It would be US in the finals at every weight- an international Dapper Dan if you will with the US. But never get rid of folkstyle, I love that we have it and it has its place. Does anyone know the last time the US had these kind of results with all countries included (ie Russia) this feels like a historic performance. 6 in the finals!

Holy hell I can't believe that... I loveee that Tevanyan just got schooled, dude is such a dbag it seems like. I'll eat my words on all the Bassett wrestling criticism, his style indeed is good enough to win a world title. Absolutely insane and with the worlds best all in the bracket. -

Nope, I don't live in a social media alternate reality so I'm not consuming the amount of garbage you do on a second by second basis.

Really pumped for Bo/Tevanyan- I've been waiting for that one for a while and believe I posted a while back about wanting to see it. Can't believe it's for world Gold tho! -
Well the current president who represents the entire party led the charge which does lend more credibility to the claim "the right" when the party leader is actively pushing it. It's a little different when you are comparing the current president to random twitter accounts in this instance. Am I saying the whole party thought of her that way? No I'm not, but there are differences. Additionally- all those that you and I agree were doing something wrong that day that had charges brought against them were pardoned...

I always try to say the internet is not real life but people on here are very consumed by social media and what is fed to them on their apps. They make it their entire personality.

Ashley Babbitt was made a martyr by the right after breaking into the capitol building after repeatedly being told to stop her advance by security and secret service. I don't recall the right saying- "play stupid games win stupid prizes" They started chants of "remember her name" and propped her up as some hero for violating the law and refusing the orders of law enforcement while a mob continued to trespass in restricted areas.

I saw a videos of som on the right supporting Trump not releasing the Epstein Files... Ergo- the entirety of the right supports not releasing the files See how dumb that sounds?

Socialized Health Care- Nuts and Bolts Discussion

I think objectively there is an inherent difference in giving money to farmers that are struggling because of 1) their choice to be in that industry and 2) the policy and choices that an administration makes that ultimately has an impact on various industries. In the example of nurses getting pensions, that is agreed upon at the time of hiring and often times negotiated with between unions and health systems. Farmers didn't sign an agreement with the government that stated "if we go to war and make policy decision that put you near bankruptcy, we'll give you money" If you're for farmers getting bailouts, you're for the banks getting bailouts... if you're for all of that and not for all Americans getting access to healthcare than that is hard thing to square...
