  1. Similar to Brands attitude toward 184 lbers?
  2. 184 had...well...action.
  3. First place has already been devalued through the ages.
  4. Roid rage is real
  5. No, but a coach has "Gable repeatedly mentioned the significance of the words engraved at the base of the statue: “(No) stalling…execute…contribute forever…in sport and in life.” He says he was known to persuade officials to warn his own wrestlers for stalling, and if done at the proper time, it would help his Hawkeyes realize important principles."
  6. For me it was exciting in the moment. The lack of takedowns meant so many matches were in the balance to the very end. But after individual matches I was disappointed with the lack of offense. PSU did not get so much as a takedown in 5 matches. Iowa failed to get a takedown in 8 matches. And 3 matches were won without either team getting a takedown. Only the first 2 matches had any kind of offense (I am not including 184 because it was such a mismatch).
  7. You are missing the point. This is a referendum on PSU fans.
  8. That said, the real boredom came from the lack of takedown attempts. Did a losing wrestler from 133 to 285 get a takedown? Did one of them take a committed shot in the first 6 minutes of their match?
  9. Agree. Having the crowd closer to the mat matters.
  10. This is how. You are including 125 in your list of weights where PSU underperformed when the entire rest of the wrestling world is not. Spencer Lee was expected to pin the PSU starter by all 27 people who cared to make a pre-match prediction on this board, along with every single person who made a prediction on both PSU fan boards, and 10 of 11 people who made a prediction on the Iowa fan board. Instead he gave up a takedown and cradle to someone nobody has ever heard of, somebody who was 0-2 and sitting all season behind a clearly over matched wrestler. But you want to play at being cute by establishing an impossible criteria for your category. The performances are only equivalent if they moved up the same number of weights to take the L. That is just dumb when talking about the lowest weight. But then you knew that, Jimmy, er, I mean Jamie.
  11. Now you are being silly.
  12. Let's not forget the backup 125lber against a 3x champ. And only one of those backups got a takedown.
  13. 6 And Spencer Lee got zero against an 0-2 back up. What's your point?
  14. Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner So who won? No, not Penn State. Who cares about that? I mean who won the all important dual score guessing contest? Q: What does @BobDole wear? Boxers? or Briefs? A: Depends If we count correct number of match winners then the answer is a tie between @Mr. PeanutButter and @Holtfan. Both were a perfect 10 for 10. Can't get much better than that. Or Can You? Guessing the winners is only half the battle. You have to get the bonus points right, too. Here we have a tie, too. The Told Ya So Award for the lowest absolute error goes to @Barracuda141 and @PortaJohn. They both got the PSU total spot on and were within spitting distance of the Iowa total. A group of six ( @BerniePragle, @fishbane, @Le duke, @Mr. PeanutButter, @Pish, and Pyle) get the Woulda Coulda Shoulda Award for near misses. Somehow @Jimmy Cinnabon got 9 of 10 correct, but still had the next to last score error. Keep up the good work.
  15. I laughed out loud. I could not love my avatar any more than I do.
  16. Pretty different situation though. Gable was the last match of the evening in a losing effort for his team. Lee wrestled two hours earlier when the result was very much in doubt.
  17. Maybe they even win 14 - 21, 14 - 22, or 17 - 20.
  18. I am begging you to change that avatar.
  19. Cassioppi. Pin for the win.
  20. I love those movies
  21. Give me that bow and arrow. And give it to me now.
  22. Like a couple of women hitting each other with their handbags. Nothing to it. Harmless.
