Agree, Minto is probably better at 184 than Norman but Minto probably scores more points at 174 than combination of Norman at 174/Minto 184 considering the depth at 184.

How exactly did he build this from the ground up in a different way than any other coach who takes over another program? By all accounts if you look at their record over time, conference champions, conference championships, ncaa top ten team finishes, all Americans and national champions from the Tim Neumann era; Manning really hasn't done anything that wasn't being done before he became head coach. I’m not a Nebraska hater by any means and take nothing away from what’s been built there…however, the homerism is severely impacting any chance of reasonable conversation with anyone. The Iowa hate gets no one anywhere…Iowa fans are aware of their program problems. Success in March as as much to do with seeding and embracing the chaos as much as anything. It is not necessarily a direct correlation of your program. There are dual teams and there are tournament teams. Not being overly confident you had some good draws in the tournament or just performed well relative to seeding is fine…Iowa just had a different path that may have been more difficult (hence the result). Still owned in duals and that should be acknowledged. Also, your culture in a program IS its base…it’s what you live and die with. You’re not adding guys to set your culture…Hardy and others have done that for you…you’re adding guys to fit your culture and base. You’re buying…it’s fine. Stop hiding from it or excusing it. 1

He's had 25 years and if you consider the success over time from that of what was already being done, he's kept a pretty good program, pretty good. 1

Neumann didn't leave the program in terrible shape and there was no impact on the sanctions that was essentially "we are watching you closer" based mainly around the archaic NCAA rules. Of course Manning has improved and built on what was before him but the cupboard was bare either.

Actually had one of them who had been a national champ that could only manage a 6th as a Husker.

Not sure I saw the accusation of buying a whole team…just saw people pointing out the perceived hypocrisy of essentially dumping on teams that don’t develop and then going it getting guys they haven’t developed. If anyone thinks Nebraska is trying to buy a Championship I think it’s clear they’re (a) not that good at it and (b) it’s not a venture that’s going to work
