NC State - 7

some notes:

- Don Cates was never ranked at all during the season and has a losing record, yet is ranked by rpi. no allocation tho

- Losing our two best guys really hurt at 157

- Brophy has a chance to steal a bid at 197. Even though the three guys with allocations are really good, Brophy has great offense and endurance, and nearly beat Sasso (lost 10-11).

Oregon St - 5

Only real headscratcher to me is Olguin not earning an allocation at 165; coaches rank has him well behind Intermat/Flo

Wyoming - 4 (only 1 Willochel)

Lock Haven - 4

Harvard - 1

Olguin's ranking doen't make a lot of sense.  Some solid wins and no "bad" losses.  Riggins is probably the worst loss and Riggins was R16 last year.

The .680 win % would have been enough if his early matches weren't at 174 as his overall is .750.

Matches may not "count" against teammates but we've seen a bunch of examples this year of that loss counting in the minds of the rankers.

good catch; I had forgotten he started the year at 174 before coming down so those get pulled out of his win %

Check that on Penn - I think the Quakers may have qualified six, 125 through 165.  I think this included 125 Davis Motyka who was probably on the bubble and I think garnered one of the two Ivy spots at 125.

Just a reminder that these allocations are not final.

If a wrestler who allocated a weight for a conference does not wrestle in the conference be it due to injury, coach's decision or missing weight, the conference loses that allocation and it goes to the at large pool.

Not entirely true. The backup wrestler's winning percentage and RPI are measured against the threshold to see whether they would have allocated, and if they would have, they keep their bid. (This rule has been invoked twice in its history, both times by service academies)

These Numbers should affect how coaches are treated at their Conference Tournament Hospitality Rooms....In the B1G PSU, Nebraska, Ohio State should be eating Steak and Lobster while Iowa, Maryland, Purdue should have a hot dog bar...Michigan State and Northwestern should be limited to crackers and tap water

How many teams do we think send 10 to nationals?

I think PSU, OKST, and ISU are locks barring something crazy or unfortunate. Nebraska has a good shot but 125 is not a lock at all and 149 is a sneaky potential miss. Of the schools in the 7-9 allocation range Rutgers has a shot, OSU has a shot, VT has a shot. Minny is a long shot to qualify 133, Illinois is realistic if everything goes right but 197 would require some upsets. NCST long shot to qual 157, have a shot but small one for 184. Pitt has a legit shot at sending 10 but 133 will be the biggest struggle. Stanford won't qualify HWT but I think they could get the other 9. Will need to steel at 165 and 174 though.

My guess is that 5 teams send 10 guys to the big dance
