$3,000 is pretty nuts.

tickets are always really cheap the week/day of

did friday and Saturday last year in Philly.  nosebleeds on friday and lower level on Saturday for the finals.  Wasn't cheap, but my buddy lives there so i was able to save money on lodging.  and got a cheap flight into philly.  I can drive to st louis next year and can stay with a cousin.  Might splurge on tickets for that one.

Interesting strategy. I do the opposite - lower level for quarters and semis and nosebleeds for finals. Price delta is higher for the finals and I figure I'm only getting one match per weight.
