MU VS OU and OSU this Weekend

Let's get away from the Big 10 for a little while. Some big duals for Mizzou this weekend.

Mizzou takes on Oklahoma on Friday and OSU on Sunday.  WrestleStat has Mizzou shutting out OU.  I doubt that happens but would be happy to see it.  Several wrestlers from the state of Missouri on Oklahoma's roster could make for some interesting matches.

125 Surtain over Prata dec 3-0

133 Brown over Henson dec 6-0

141 Hart over Schwartz dec 9-0

149 Mauller over Moore dec 12-0

157 Jacques over Butler dec 15-0

165 O'Toole over Nijenhuis mdec 19-0

174 Mocco over Picklo dec 22-0

184 Hawks over Moore dec 25-0

197 Elam over Seago mdec 29-0

285 Elam over Heindselman dec 32-0

Mizzou vs Oklahoma state is predicted to be much closer by Wrestlestat.  They have it as 20-13 for Mizzou

125 Surtain over Witcraft dec 3-0

133 Fix over Brown mdec 3-4

141 Hart over Young dec 6-4

149 Mauller over Voinovich dec 9-4

157 Gfeller over Jacques dec 9-7

165 O'Toole over Sheets mdec 13-7

174 Plott over Mocco dec 13-10

184 Wittlake over Hawks dec 13-13

197 Elam over Suber mdec 17-13

285 Elam over Doucet dec 20-13

Are these lineups accurate?  Anyone have different predictions.  I am thinking Mizzou wins 24-9 or so against OU and 23-10 vs OSU.

so if Sheets holds it to a decision and Young wins, this could be close?

This is all assuming MU wrestles their normal lineup vs both teams, which knowing Smith is improbable.  I've seen him rest guys and lose duals as a result (SDSU, UNI).

Last I heard, he was taking all 10 starters - no extras. And it looked like that from the bus photos.

No extras, just 10 guys?  I'd hope he at least brings a couple of back-ups, just in case.

I could’ve have swore he said just 10. Most of the others would be going to another tourney this weekend. I thought it was on a podcast - maybe the one with mauller? I had it playing in the background, so I could have misheard.

Unless there are injuries, I would guess it’s the starting lineup going this weekend. Seeding for the B12 should be important. Not to mention some have missed a good chunk of time. Need matches for RPI.

Why is Mizzu so short on match #s?

Rocky was nursing something at the beginning and didn’t wrestle much.  Quite a few guys have had a rough season with injuries also, Surtin, Brown, etc.  .  O’Toole, Mauller, and Rocky didn’t go to scuffle.  Also I just have a feeling more and more coaches are going to have their guys wrestle fewer matches. No need to wrestle a lot when duals are for the most part meaningless

Especially if he takes out a couple more on the way down.  Maybe I've been watching too much Three Stooges.  Strike that, no such thing as too much Stooges.

Couldn't agree with you more.  "Coitanly" there is no such thing as watching too much Stooges!

Still the best Physics teachers I ever had.

I learned so many things from watching the Stooges.  Center of Gravity, Inertia/Momentum, Action/Reaction, Circuit Analysis, Conservation of Energy, Thermodynamics/Heat Flow, Fluid Dynamics
All from falling off ladders, hitting each other with a maul, getting zapped by electrical outlets, encounters with steam irons and fire hoses.  Those guys were geniuses.

Jacques gets a TD to go up 3-1 on Gfeller. Reversal and ride out for Gfeller who gets the win. Mizzou down 6-3. Mizzou looking flat. Not a great road trip.

Other than Hart, they were pretty solid against OU. It seems he's not been wrestling very well of late.
