Still excited from last night's Gopher win I wanted to break down the lineups that wrestled last night and where they were ranked coming out of high school.  The ranking number (Flo big board top 100) is where they were ranked in the last big board coming out of high school.

125  IA 33, MN 40

133  IA 5, MN 91

141  IA 17, MN 91

149  IA 22, MN 53

157  IA 12, MN 33

165  IA 52, MN not ranked

174  IA 3, MN 88

184  MN 3, IA 5

197  MN 12, IA 15

Hwt  IA 2, MN 17

So, 184 and 197 were the only weights where Minnesota had a guy ranked higher coming out of high school, and those were both very close.  I think this speaks to our coach's ability to develop guys that weren't necessarily blue chippers.

The transfer count was 2 for MN, 5 for IA.

Gopher did a great job, they had Ryder block game planned. Thought that match was very well coached for the gophers. I think hopke can beat kueter in the future too.

Agree on Hopke. You could tell they weren't expecting that Kueter would come out with a quick shot like that at the opening whistle.  He still has to work on getting out from bottom though too.

Great win for Minn and at Iowa’s place to boot. AND to do it with developed “lesser” talent. Good work Gophers!

Great win for the gophers. This match may be the end of the Brands brothers.   I’m not sure what you consider a blue chipper (top ten in class ?) but wouldn’t It also points out the gophers coaches inability to draw in blue chippers?

Good info.  Although I only count 4 transfers for Iowa (Cruz, Bailey, Williams, Caliendo).  But they went 1-3

Vombaur was only ranked 91 coming out of high school?  He's already a two time AA.  Minnesota found a diamond in the rough there

Love this thread.  Especially after some of the negativity on The Guillotine after the Nebraska and Ohio State duals.

I’m really impressed with how Millard has wrestled lately.  Drew Roberts’ development this year has been fantastic too.  Ski-U-Mah!

You are correct.

It was a long time coming and it's nice to say the Gophers beat Iowa at Carver Hawkeye Arena. Can they build off of it? Is this more of Iowa losing their way and just being a beneficiary? Maybe it is a bit of both?

Bit of both I think. Kemdawg in the corner is a factor to. He knows a little of how the brands are going to approach the dual. Front half of the hawks line up didn't show up. And Minnesota smelled blood in the water

What are your thoughts/prediction on this Friday at Jersey Mikes Arena against Rutgers?

I got to hear the betting line first, it's in Jersey!  may end up right on the line?

Could both OSUe and OSU shutout Iowa in February?  Obviously this has never happened.

PS:  I'm surprised jimmy hasn't already posted this thread.

No

Tosu- caliendo will win

Osu- more of a chance for a shutout but 125 and 174 Iowa will be favored in
