I do see a little of what you guys mean. Not one ranked heavy in this years class of 2026 is committed to PSU. The very best ones Mocco, Ross and Merrill don't even have PSU as a possibility on their top college choices. Why is that? Top upper weight coaches Sanderson, Snyder and Varner are there-all Olympic Champs! Doesn't make any sense.

Mirasola is why those guys aren't coming to PSU.

And don't act like Cassar and Kerk's national championships are for naught. During Carl's tenure has been a murderer's row of heavyweight champs

2011 Zach Rey (world team member).

2012-13 Tony Nelson (bajillion national teams). Always going to MN.

2014-15 Gwiz (2x world medalist, 4 world teams, bajillion national teams). Was always going to be with Pat Pop.

2016-18 Snyder (5x champ, 10x medalist). Public recruitment, chose Lou Roselli. Current NLWC athlete.

2019 Cassar. PSU guy

2020-2022 Gable (olympic gold in his senior debut). Was always going to MN.

2023 Parris (1x medalist, 1x olympian, front-runner to reclaim the senior spot after a year away). Raw prospect. PSU had Nevills then recruited Kerk

2024 Kerk. PSU guy

2025 Hendrickson with an all-time upset over Gable. Chose a service academy, Kerk was the guy anyways.

2026 Mirasola...

Cole Mirasola still has 4 years of eligibility.  He beat out all these guys at U20s this past summer.  That's a pretty good reason to not go to PSU if you're a top HWT recruit with hopes of being a 4 year starter.

On top of that, with the logjam at 197 with Conner Mirasola and Josh Barr, it seems that Connor's main role the next 3 years is to serve as a backup for both Barr and his brother at HWT.  That's a pretty solid backup.

I doubt PSU is putting much effort into recruiting heavies this year, and probably not next year either.  I suspect recruits see it the same way.

Jordan Wood (2x AA), Zach Rey (3x AA), and Max Wessell (1x AA) are the only AAs from Lehigh at 285 in the last 25 years.

Rey’s first AA honor was in 2011. Add Trephan to your list and you’ve got four guys with 7 AA honors in 15 years. Nathan Taylor gives an additional R12 in 2024. That’s a pretty solid group of five guys over a 15yr timeframe.

They 100% were recruiting Ross and Mocco.  Smart on them for not going there.  Connor is the one who intrigues me the most with his situation.

Yes, lets not pretend that PSU is afraid to recruit over anyone.  Especially since they allegedly have 30 scholarships this year (or something close to it.)

Yep and the PSU board has indicated they have continued recruiting Ross pretty hard even after his commitment

PSU would certainly never recruit over a heavyweight and an assistant coach's dad would never recruit someone committed to another team.
