Why Does the U.S. Support Israel?

You act like Jews in a one state solution would be immediately powerless. The IDF would still exist. They would still control the majority of wealth in the region. They would still have significant representation in government, possibly even a majority of elected representatives. The major difference is that the country wouldn't discriminate against one ethnicity BY LAW.

This may shock you, but Arabs and Jews lived in relative peace in Palestine for a long time before Israel showed up. Palestinians literally took refugees from the Holocaust into their homes (at the same time our government did not let them enter the country).

The opposite is true in both cases as well. 

We did take in Jews. I'm pretty sure you're referencing the most notorious example when we turned away... I don't remember, but I thought it was thousands of Jews away from Florida on the St. Louis.

No, it'd just turn into a War Torn State in the entire region. I believe the Jews WOULD live peacefully... I don't think the Palestinians would. 

 

That doesn't mean I think they should keep going... though I don't see Palestine stopping. At least not until the Crown Prince is back in Iran or some other form of Govt' that's not propping up the terrorists in Palestine or whatever you'd call this one-state.

MAYBE that support will have shrunk in the aftermath of Oct 8th, but... I don't think their opinion of Israel has.

You want me to write a book length history of the entire conflict? I never said there wouldn't be conflict. That's why there would be an extensive peace-keeping force to oversee the transition. None of you want to acknowledge that reality because it eliminates the boogeyman possibility that you rely on.

Believing there would ever be a scenario where Israel is abandoned and unprotected from Muslim recrimination is the definition of naive. Any solution - two state or one state - will involve overwhelming military protection from the West for Israel - just like we've been doing for the past 70 years. Nor would I endorse anything that didn't include that.

Speaking of Lebanon, why didn't you mention Sabra and Shatila? That was worse than October 7th by every measure. What about the Nakba? Deir Yassin? What about the documented (by the IDF) 450 attacks by West Bank settlers on Palestinian villagers this year? The only thing dumb is your constant tallying of the score without proposing or engaging with any sort of solution to the actual problem.

That boogeyman possiblity is far more likely to happen than anything you’ve said and it’s not even close.  It’s a boogeyman probability
