To an extent yes, there are parents who do all the right things but the kids are just a**holes.    As long as the parents actions (or inaction) is taken into account, and not just the kids.......yes all for it for parents who don't parent when their kid causes trouble.

Good point...I agree.

Thoughts on this?  I personally love it and think parents should be held accountable for their children.

NJ parents applaud new law that could send them to prison for their children's crimes: 'You got to get the parents involved'

Love it.  For when the parents don’t care what the kid does.

Horrible idea, in general. It may sound great to somebody simple minded and vindictive but ya gotta think it through. Parents don't always have control over what kids do. Kids commit crimes for a variety of reasons. To say it's always due to bad parenting is pure ignorance plain and simple. A lot of these parents are doing the best they can and actually doing a great job.

Go ahead and do it if parents obviously did something negligent but to just be able to apply it to everything and anything is stupid and will likely make situations worse in many cases.

He obviously didn't read and is responding without knowing what he's talking about, for the sake of being a douche canoe to get responses.   Why support it?

I already said it's fine in specific situations.

Did you read the article and about the law, or just the post and headline.

Why would I need a patent for this?

i read the article.

what in the article/law makes my take invalid?

It covers intent and neglect of responsibilities. If the parents did their job they have nothing to worry about.

Who said your take was invalid?

That said, the law does hold the responsible individual responsible.   It also talks to the actions of the parents in trying to prevent the repeated actions of the child.  It also talks about the parents being “warned” before any action is taken against them.

So these matters will be investigated, and parents….who are responsible for parenting….will be held responsible for not parenting.  Along with the minor being held responsible for their actions.
