I just learned Coach Heffernan relocated to Buffalo, NY to become the AD at a small private school in Buffalo which unfortunately doesn't have a wrestling program...

I know his wife is from the area but wonder if he's looking to get a program going there for high school or hanging around to potentially get involved at University at Buffalo?

Does anyone have any connections to him?

Also, im assuming this is Jim Heffernan's son? Lots of great wrestling history in that family...

Best case scenario in my opinion for the area is they start a team and become a powerhouse national prep program. Maybe many of those kids go on to wrestle at other schools around the country but some would definitely potentially trickle up the UB program and that would make them a lot more competitive and they get to keep these kids at a young age in one area or system similar to what David Taylor and Jordan Burroughs have described. While it would never be at that level given that UB is in the MAC it would still amazing to see the area really blossom. Given its proximity to PA and Ohio and any kids that want to cross the boarder from Canada.

Jim's son is Sean.  This is probably a brother's son.

I coached HS in Buffalo suburbs for a few years; wrestling has an okay following in the general populace.  That city loves it's hockey though and that will always take a lot of the winter sports athletes
