will I start another thread.  Probably.  She said racist af statements and the media doesn’t care.  Flip the script and have Clark say the opposite.

It was ALL Sports Media talked about for like a week dude.

The whole, "the media doesn't care," is sooo clearly nonsense since they're reporting on her RESPONSE to a question about it a MONTH later!

Do you not see how you've undermined your own point?

"The media just picked it up."

Also-

"The media doesn't care."

You didn’t answer what would the media say if Clark said the opposite racist af comment

Except for this comment to make sense, we’d need to know for sure if Griner said what you think.  We don’t.

Cool, how much do you charge for your professional lip reading services?

It’s obvious what she said.  Else why would the media keep asking her.  Can you read lips.  It’s obvious boss

What the hell? I thought the media didn't care?

Also, who "keeps asking her?" Fox, NY Post?

What are you looking for here? 'f'ing whack call' is at LEAST as likely as 'f'ing white girl,' given how many white women she plays with and she just fouled...a black girl and got called for the foul. One makes sense, one really doesn't. But...benefit of the doubt, both are possible and equally likely.

If it's "f'ing white girl," like you so badly need it to be...what do you want done here?

I can't stand her as a person, but you're SO outraged, you're not sure what she said, you're only convincing yourself you are. And based on what you're convincing yourself of, you want WHAT done?

A hypothetical "what if" and asking 'what if Clark said f'ing black girl?'

People would care more. They'd care more because more people care about Clark, because the league is predominately black and because the HEAVY-HEAVY burden we as white people have to carry is a... racial(I don't even know what you'd call it, it's not a slur) doesn't QUITE hit as hard because of...ya know, the last 400 years.

So what do you want between this thread and a 3rd thread in which we AGAIN rehash this, what outcome would you like here?

Because I knew blue peoples would never admit what she said and twist everything they could to make it sound otherwise.   It messes with their narrative.

Can we admit Clark or her teammates aren’t innocent in some of this stuff?

Looks like today’s game was mostly white on white crime.

Not sure what part of the game this happened, but speaking of lip reading, and no I’m not sure if this is accurate…

This eye poke did look dirty:

But I think Clark either tripped because of her eye, or took a dive here:

Then Sophie Cunningham retaliates with the illegal headlock (I do think the contrast of folks celebrating this vs how they react if someone fouls Clark is interesting):

Clark does take a bit of a beating, however she does play a heated, mouthy, cocky game.  Sometimes you reap what you sow.  Regarding Griner, 1) I don't like that she was traded for a murderer....not at all; 2) "Drug addict"......🤣🤣🤣...okay 3) I won't get into arguing about what she actually said, I'll leave it up to people who want to get mad, but since we can't 100% ascertain what she said without the audio, we can take in the context of the situation, which was that she fouled out of the game by fouling Natasha Howard, a black girl, and not Caitlin Clark.  Howard then went to the line to shoot her two free throws.    I'll leave the rest to ya'll to be mad.

Thanks for the context.  It does look like the first thing she says is “trash,” which I think most would agree typically refers to a ref’s call.  So the logical conclusion would be that what followed was probably also about the call.

LOL...definitely not where the hypocrisy ends.

Why'd he bring this up? Because the media "just picked this up." Despite the fact is dominated the news Cycle when it happened, the media JUST picked it up. I mean, he even argued there were SOOO many articles about it!

So why did he make another thread? "The media isn't talking about it." LOL...I mean, you can't make this up!

Needed a new thread because he claimed all these news sources were talking about it but also because "the media" wasn't talking about it.

This is how you know they're not even thinking about their responses, they're pre-trained responses they just blurt out. Just keep blaming "the media, the media."

Ooh...not it's "only" 10-15 articles...

But why isn't "the media" covering this...story that's a month old that they wrote 10-15-20 articles about depending on which post you're just making things up in...

Wait...no, you said you posted it because the Media isn't talking about it, remember?

But THEN you said you had to start another thread because the media was talking about it SO much!

LOL...I can see why this thread got quiet Cavvy!

People in sports talk trash and will find anything they can to do it. The racial stuff goes both ways. We just don't hear it much because in most sports, fans aren't close enough to see or hear. A guy who goes to the same gym as I do played offensive line in the NFL for a number of years. He doesn't get into specifics, but he says there is a lot of NSFW talk going on down there that few people ever hear. He did say one of his teammates was mic'd up for a game and he figured out how to break it when he realized they would hear everything he said. It's just a part of sports where millions of dollars are at stake. So even if that is what she said, it's not exactly surprising. Athletes sometimes take exception to things said, like Ron Artest, or Vernon Maxwell. Even hall of famer Ty Cobb beat up a handicapped man who had the audacity to suggest that Cobb and or his mom might have been partially black. Ultimately these kinds of things are rarely a big deal until punches get thrown.

Wooaaah!!!

I'm with you on everything UP until you besmirch the name of Ty Cobb. A drunk slob already made up a fantastic story.

Again, not to undermine the larger point, there's lots of S-talking going on. I don't believe there are a lot of racial slurs. That's not going to go well. I mean, "white boy" is about as bad as it gets.

Now, Ty Cobb...not only was he NOT a racist and those stories just insanely made up, not even exaggerated, but he was actually the opposite. He was open minded and VERY progressive for his time. It's always relative, Lincoln was still "racist" but Ty Cobb's family was forced to leave their home in Georgia for advocating for abolition of slavery, he was raised in a pretty open house hold.

The story of him beating a disabled black man nearly to death was actually a teammate who got into a fight with a white bellhop.

He advocated letting "negros" play, he was friends with Jackie Robinson... during a time full of racial tension, Cobb was...again, very open minded;

Quote

“The Negro should be accepted wholeheartedly and not grudgingly… The Negro has the right to play professional baseball and who’s to say he has not?”

He also said:“Certainly it is okay for [Black players] to play… no white man has the right to be less of a gentleman than a colored man; in my book that goes not only for baseball but in all walks of life.”

Al Stump wrote a book that decimated the mans reputation...and I don't blame you for not knowing, but... I love Baseball and the History of the game and I hate that drunk slob. The Book is what led to Tommy Lee Jones playing him in the movie and the main REAL reference point as it'd just be too hard for old Al to actually do some research for the book!

Sorry...I know that wasn't really the main point. I am really skeptical Griener said 'f'ing white girl,' though. I dislike her as much as almost anyone, but... I don't think she' say that.

That was a different story. It was widely accepted he did beat up a heckler who had lost part of his hands in an industrial accident.

This game was set in New York City at Hilltop Park which was opened in 1903, hosting the Highlanders until October of 1912, sitting in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan.

On this particular Wednesday at Hilltop Park, Ty Cobb lunged into the stands and physically attacked one of the New York fans; a man by the name of Claude Lucker.
Apparently, Cobb was familiar with this fan, who he claimed in his memoirs, “had ridden me hard in past New York appearances.”
During the May 15 game, Cobb and Lucker reportedly exchanged insults and it go so bad after the second inning that it caused Cobb to stay in an area beyond center field rather than return to the dugout.

But the time came when it was Cobb’s turned to bat, so he had to return to the dugout to get ready for his plate appearance in the fourth inning.  Upon entering the dugout, Cobb shot off an insult at Lucker while Lucker continued to insult and taunt Cobb.

When asked by one of his teammates what he was going to do about the heckling fan, Ty Cobb leaped into the stands and went after Lucker, who was about 12 rows back.  Cobb persisted to knock Lucker down and began kicking and punching him.

Making matters worse, Claude Lucker was a man who had lost eight fingers due to an industrial accident and was limited in his ability to defend himself against Cobb’s attack.

Fans yelled to Cobb “He has no hands!”, but Cobb replied, “ I don’t care if he has no feet,” as he continued to punch and kick him until the two men were separated.
