I think he will be even better at 165 he looked awesome at trials, and he is still so young that he should continue developing. My only concern would be his quality of training partners at Purdue.

his quality of training partners helped take him from a 17-12 record and 0-2 at the ncaa tourney his freshman year to 24-6 record and ncaa runner up finish his soph year.

And followed that up by placing 3rd at WTT up at 74kg. Beating Quincy Monday and outplacing NCAA Finalist Caliendo and AA's Hall, Barraclough and Scott. And probably more I am forgetting

I think you confused overrated with underrated. The caption on the video says, "most underrated college wrestler."

Before his performance at trials, I definitely underrated him. I figured he was likely a 5th-7th type guy next year and thought his finals appearance was due to an upset that was extremely unlikely to replicate itself, and the quadrant of the bracket below him falling perfectly to pave a path for Blaze to the finals.

The Cannon failed challenge debacle happens and the 5 seed goes down in OT to #12 Fish.

#20 Chumbley is able to knock off #4 Hipolito in double OT. And then he beats Fish to make the semis.

So Joey Blaze beat #25 Santiago in round one 7-0, #9 Askey in tiebreakers 2-2, upsets #1 Kasak, and beats #20 Chumbley 4-2 to make the finals.

His performance at trials, albeit in freestyle, showed that maybe his run wasn't so much a fluke, and he might have just been improving.

I underrated him too for sure, just got triggered by our thought leaders watching a kid make the NCAA finals and then cosplaying like it was mid february.

I didn't get that from the conversation at all. I took it as "We've been sleeping on how good Joey Blaze actually is."

We'd need a whole other, completely useless, topic to hash out how much Pyles and CO are insinuating their expertise.

Lack of training partners has become a very common excuse for guys who aren't intrinsically motivated enough to reach their goals. Joey Blaze doesn't seem to have that problem

Two years younger than "freshman phenom" Josh Barr!!

Freshman Barr is actually older than his junior teammate Levi Haines.

Barr certainly earned his last name because he is old enough to legally enter a bar as a freshman.  He is a very religious young man, so doubtful he partakes in the same libations as fellow Michagander Braeden Davis.
