Dake or Starocci?

Who's winning 86kg tomorrow, Dake or Starocci? Will either wrestler secure a takedown? IIRC Dake did not score a TD on Keckeisen today, but he is savvy enough in FS that he can score points in a number of ways.

This one alone seems worth the price of the ticket... except it's a $30 ticket to stream, so maybe not a great value.

Dake was looking and moving s'moove - so I'm giving him a small edge.

On the Intermat podcast, they mentioned that when Dake first announced he was planning to move to NLWC, Carter tweeted he should stay at Cornell. Does anyone recall that? I'm sure the tweet has since been deleted, but I'm curious what he actually said

Dake is 34 and potentially a bit undersized. He's a legend, but gotta go with CStar here.

I don’t think there has ever been a match between 2 4x’ers, much less against a 4x’er and a 5x’er. New record today:  9 combined NCAA titles on the same mat, and a combined 9-0 in NCAA title runs. 

I don’t know who wins but how can you not be stoked for this?

Yeah! This is gonna be historic! If Dake were in his late 20s, he'd win for sure. At 34 it's gonna be tough. I still think Dake wins.

Without a singlet pull, Zahid takes out Brooks last year. You believe Starocci is better than Brooks?

*Two* singlet pulls.

Also, the ruleset dictated that Brooks would only get one when they ran into a ref on what would have been a clear TD.

Zahid was very lucky the match was so close.

Plus, if someone can say "yeah but brooks only won because zahid cheated and got caught" I'm just gonna say "Yeah but Brooks usually doesn't give up stupid 4s"

I was kind of surprised by that 4 pointer, too, but Zahid earned that one, for sure. That was beautiful.

If I were NLWC, I’d have Dake doing Zercher squats and sled pushes.

I hate to say it, but the path to victory is clear, but very ugly.

That's kind of what I thought. You don't typically see a TD awarded in FS until the defending wrestler turns down and the attacking wrestler is on top and completely behind. If there were a couple more seconds, Dake likely gives up exposure or has to turn down to avoid doing so. In folkstyle that would have 100% been a takedown, but like the quad pod, FS takedowns are called differently.
