I agree future is critical and he understands. It depends on which side of the line you politically agree with, regarding the future he’s interested in. The left says his it’s own, the right says America. Right and wrong, at its core, always wins out with me.

Trump is gathering data.  Finding out things for the future.  He’s a nationalist but also smart enough To realize that globalization is happening whether anyone wants it to or not.  As it happens countries that aren’t self sufficient are going to get gobbled up by those that are.  There are only  going to be a few options available for non self sufficient countries to hook their ships to.  They better choose wisely.

Dude...ALL of them that will, have been aligning their "ships" with us.

What THIS did was align Japan, North Korean and China.

And again, if you don't understand the gravity of that...that's fine, because we kinda skate over how evil the Japanese were during WWII. As opposed to the Nazi's, they don't really teach it or talk about it in school, they just...don't believe about the raping of the Chinese and then Korean pleasure women, the...well, it gets uglier. But there's no love lost there.

And yet, they've formed an alliance.

I also don't even know what this means though. "Countries that aren't self sufficient are going to get gobbled up by those that are." In what sense? Is this that "The US will take Greenland," nonsense?

Trump thinks you can go back to an Economy from before automobiles. That's what he ran on.

The United States....we WERE WINNING. He could have taken the economy, built on it, bragged he had the best economy ever again.

Of course, he thinks he can run for another term after this one, so who knows what's in Trumps mind. You've gone from mocking the prospect that this could lead to a recession or depression to assuming Trump will come to his senses. That's amusing.

He may even believe that he's doing what's best(I don't believe that, but lets give him the benefit of the doubt). It's not.

Best case, he unrolls it after some superficial "concessions."

Right now the Republicans are considering a tax increase on those making a million or more a year. 40-41% marginal tax rate at a million while others want to go back to Obama levels, 36/37%at 683K or so.

We'll have to see...

This whole thing seems like a disaster. Why are we supposed to trust a guy who has had to declare bankruptcy 6 times with his own businesses and bankrupted no less than 3 casinos with his mismanagement?

Because we’re $36 trillion in debt.  Something has to change or we’ll keep spending ourselves out of being a country.  Congress obviously doesn’t care.
