Wow. Never saw a statewide election this lopsided against a Republican judge. Victory for the average guy and a loss for the elite. Trump won WI but how do you like it now?

All those payoffs that Musk provided to Schimel voters didn't work. He spent $20m trying to buy Wisconsin courts so he can illegally sell his crappy cars.

Bad sign for the 2026 elections for the wingers  REALLY BAD!!

The important part of the ballot was Voter ID, and it passed. Sorry about your luck...

Anybody see the results of the Florida special election?

Those were winger districts anyway. The wingers actually won by less than expected.

Yes, that was a victory for the wingers. Make it tougher for poor people to vote. Congrats.

You think THAT was the "important part of the ballot?"

Yeah...that's why this was the most expensive State Supreme Court Race in History and Musk spent 70M dollars.

To affirm a referendum on a law that already exists.

Jesus are people gullible.

That is an interesting result.   Jurist goes D but the R staple item voter ID gets passed.   Wisconsin is nothing if not schizo.

It was only interesting in just how much the Democrats won by. A 10 point spread?

I can't believe people think that's equal to a law that's already on the books.

It was about as strong of a repudiation of Trump and Musk as you can get...and wait until the mid-terms. People who didn't listen and left their money in this market as Trump is absolutely tanking it...they're not going to be happy.

The guy actually cited Smoot-Hawley, the economic policy that led to the great depression. Amazing. Markets are crashing after hours.

This is what I mean by schizo.    The vote for the voter ID was more than the vote for the jurist.   Opposite voting pattern really.   Schizo!!

Your attempt to minimize the voter ID vote is disingenuous.    It may have been law, but now is part of the state constitution.   That's not a small deal and the fact it won by more of a landslide than the jurist won by says something.

I don't think...anyone cares about the voter ID thing. There were CONSTANT ads and no race for a judge has ever had as much money spent on it.

The ID...I lost my ID, I went online and printed it out. It wasn't a big deal.

That's one of those things that the right cares about WAY more than the left does. There's some nonsensical idea that you've got people somehow using fake ids or they can register to vote without being American citizens.

I voted for the ID law. I voted for Crawford. It's not NEARLY as schizo as you seem to think.

Yeah I was gonna say I don’t think voter ID is really that partisan.  I’m sure a lot of Dem voters are in favor of voter ID

Musk is not my Supreme leader lol, but since we're talking about him. He should have spent more if it was so important...

FYI, “amuse” is one of the biggest liars on x.  His claim of Crawford “outspending” Schimel is only the funding from the candidates themselves.  Doing some quick math, in total it looks like pro-Schimel groups spent over $53 million and pro-Crawford groups spent about $45 million

Voter ID Constitutional Amendment Passes by Eye-Popping Margin in Major Defeat to Democrats

I'm not the only one that has said this.   Probably still not enough for you.

Has said what?  You trust the MSM now? Like I said, I was talking about the voters, so thanks for proving my point

Right...but YOU think referendum that WOULDN'T have actually changed anything, that was ACTUALLY the important part of the election!

LOL...you know the right runs around just saying things they don't believe. They can't argue about who actually spent the most AND then claim that wasn't actually the part of the race that was important.

Well...they can, but you know they don't even believe what they're saying.

Yeah...either way, the idiot is trying to say that the voter ID referendum that quite literally wouldn't have changed ANYTHING...was more consequential...and THEN he goes on to use...obviously BS numbers from Twitter about how much money they spent on it.

LOL...you posted a link to TRUMP saying it?

That dramatic little...female dog in heat said that is "Susan Crawford wins, they'll stop everything I'm doing it, it'll be like i never won..."

Now the Voter ID, which again, this was NOT to make it legal to vote WITHOUT Voter ID, this changed nothing other than it's the 3rd straight time the Republicans have put something voter ID related on the ballot, but now THAT was really the most important part of the election?

Wisconsin law requires an amendment to pass by vote twice before being enacted.

No, it requires it to pass the state houses twice before it's put to a referendum.

Care to explain the larger point here? You don't strike me as an idiot and the argument being made is that the Voter ID referendum was more consequential than the State Supreme Court.

Are you arguing that the State Supreme Court Race was not as important as the Voter ID Law which...was ALREADY in place?

Posted (edited)

I honestly didn’t even know there was a voter ID thing on the ballot until after the election.  But saw a lot of press about how much money both sides, including Musk, were spending on the race.   As well as several comments from Musk about how important the race was, and several comments from anti-Musk people about how “the Wisconsin Supreme Court race is a referendum on Elon Musk!”

If Musk really thought the voter ID thing was more important, he did a piss poor job of getting that message across.

Or, he moved the goalposts.
