Offseason talk: NIL $$$ is crazy.

Amir Khan, student manager for McNeese State basketball, landed NIL deals north of six figures from brands like Buffalo Wild Wings Turbo Tax, and Fortnite last week after his pregame rap video went viral. Now there's rumors that he might transfer to NC State to become their bball manager   I'm honestly happy for the kid, but wish wrestling could tap into this kind of money that's flying around. We've got hypefans just on this board that could match his aura.

One difference is that in this case, the NIL sponsors said they wanted to reward Khan for his rizz and for "embodying the fun and enjoyment you have watching the tournament." We've got plenty of that.

Yes, that’s the true meaning of NIL.  I know Cormier also said he had people reaching out to him looking to do endorsements with Hendrickson

Well they NIL’ed him because he was going to get TV exposure for a large demographic of men every time McNease was on.  Plus, the social media clips that would come from it.  Cheaper and more replayed than paying for a single TV ads during March Madness.

Kentucky had the same thing happen last year after their coach left. I think almost all of Iowa's team is in the portal too.  Some of those guys could come back if they like their new coach. Illinois had only one player return after last season, and their coach didn't leave.

This is now very common in basketball with smaller rosters and bigger money.

Good point, things could get crazier once the roster limits are set. I think the cap for bball will be 15
