The college refs are not having a good weekend, missing a lot of apparent takedowns.

The worst may be at 141 in the Nebraska/Indiana dual.  Indiana got charged with a coach misconduct call, when assistant coach Chad Red threw a challenge brick to protest a takedown call that was awarded to Brock Hardy.  It was a soft toss that appeared to glance the ref's elbow or side of his body.  The ref was directly between the action and where the coaches were sitting, so hard to avoid coming close to hitting him.  The announcers laughed and said that Red apologized.  After the review, that the Hoosiers lost, they were deducted a team point that they didn't have, so they wrestled almost the entire dual at -1 team score.  What are we doing???

I agree. In this circumstance the whole thing seems unnecessary. But even when coaches are truly out of line, the penalty should be a warning/ejection to the coach. You shouldn't be able to lose points based on a coaches actions in general.

Amazingly, this wasn't the only -1 score of the day either!

I missed it, but something happened in the Princeton Penn match such that Princeton was dragging around a -1 score midway through the dual.

Dubuque got very heated and went onto the mat costing Princeton a team  point. Coach Roger Reina apparently stepped on the mat and Penn lost a team point. Congrats to coach Reina winning his last home dual meet. He steps down this year. Got his 250th win recently. 2 time Penn NCAA champ Matt Valenti takes over next year.

angel rivera needed the second ref to call a TD for lucas byrd in what would have been the worst call i've ever seen.

I think Davis/Kilkeary last year might be the worst I’ve seen (and ironically I believe the head ref from that was the assistant on Sunday).

that was really bad, this would have been way worse imo....though its a moot point because the 2nd ref fixed it.

8:38. This dude is an imbecile, way more intent on making interesting calls than right ones.

They really need to stop taking team points away unless there have been multiple infractions, if at all.

There is no way a causal fan could watch the coaches in the ISU/UNI dual and the Indiana coaches in the NU/IU dual and understand why IU lost a team point.   To be clear, I loved seeing Metcalf and Schwab go at each other.

Headgear throw should definitely not be a team point or any celebration either.

The funny part to me is Poeta complaining that should be a TD but Sealey’s shouldn’t have

Where did he complain or make a comment about the Sealey TD?

Starts around 36:30 you can see him complaining to the assistant as time was expiring

Looks like he is just coaching to me.  He doesn't even seem that passionate about it.   Both are bad calls, but I don't want my coach to just accept it, especially if they were on the wrong side of the first one.

If anything, it would be consistent for Poeta to point out that the Sealey's TD was no different than Bryd's and they should be called the same, which was incorrectly no TD unfortunately.

I mean he wasn’t going full Terry Brands or Doug Schwab but it looks like more than just “coaching” to me.  I don’t think it’s normal for most sane coaches to try to talk to refs while action is still occurring.  Throw the brick, then state your case after action stops.
