Some guys just want to toe the line and scrap. These high volume guys know to give the people what they want.

There are 17 ranked wrestlers with 14 or more matches this season.

Observations:

  • At 20 bouts, Sam "Man's Man" Latona has not met a tournament he doesn't love.
  • Matt "The Dream Killer" Ramos is the only high volume guy who is still undefeated.
  • 165 is not for the timid, or the tired. They lead all weight classes with no fewer than 5 ranked wrestlers with at least 14 bouts.
  • 285 and 174 are the only other weights with three such wrestlers.
  • 157, 184, and 197 appear to get more vacation days than their peers. You have to negotiate these things BEFORE you take the job.
  • Duke, North Carolina State, and Virginia Tech are all out of the gate fast with two such wrestlers.
  • And as a result no one can touch the ACC for volume with 7 ranked wrestlers making at least 14 appearances
  • Bob 4

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

I was a little surprised to see that many wrestlers with that many matches under their belt. What's the average # of matches full-season starters are logging these days, and is it a pretty wide bell curve? What's the trendline looking like this millennium? Just thought I'd ask since the data peeps here may have it handy.

awesome stats WKN.  I checked Latona since you pointed him out.  Looks like he has surpassed 100 wins during the beginning of this season.

Redshirt year doesn’t technically though right?  Would still only need 11 more not counting it though

I guess it depends on who you ask.  I think that may be right though that many don't count the redshirt wins just like they dont count the losses
