You pay 30% of your check as Federal Income Tax.

You pay 10% in most States Income Tax.

You pay another 7% in Sales Tax.

You pay another 8% in Property Tax.

55% of your check is taken from you before you even get home from work.

Then they doubled gas prices.

Then they doubled food prices.

Then they doubled mortgage rates.

Then they give all your money away to other countries.

Fossil-fuel subsidies surged to a record $7 trillion last year as governments supported consumers and businesses during the global spike in energy prices caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the economic recovery from the pandemic.

Can't forget this either. Though the US is responsible for almost 1/7th of that.

I think taxes are too high also, but you shouldn't just post everything you read unexamined.

  • Sales tax and property taxes do not come from income.
  • Individuals filing solo do not hit 30% until they pull in about $575k (even higher for married filing jointly), but I am guessing anyone who reads this uncritically does not make %575k.
  • Only 2 states have a highest marginal rate above 10%, so you don't pay 10% in state taxes either.

Oh, those terrible, awful "they" people.

Put it on a sign and run for political office - I expect that people like you would vote for you.

No, it doesn't make any sense. But, after all, ignorance is contagious. That much is proven.

Responses went as suspected. Of course every American’s situation is different, taxes and prices are complicated, but at the end of the day all people hear is we’re giving away more money to other countries, forgiving loans, incentivizing illegal immigrants, etc. The day after Biden’s uber pardon, he’s off to Africa to give another $b. How about postpone that and make a surprise trip to SC?

How exactly are we incentivizing illegal immigrants? I'm curious because there's money available for refugees and asylum claimants who are definitely not illegal immigrants. So I'm curious what you're actually referring to.

Yes, it was sloppy in mixing the denominator of the percentages in the original post.  But a fair correcting rebuttal would also add in both sides (worker and business) of FICA for 15% up to bout $160k and 3% after that.  Then the 30% hits much earlier than $575k.
