pawns off teaching on a clueless TA

Which was it.  High paid researchers or clueless TAs?

Don’t let little things impact your education I would say.   Especially don’t obsess about it over a 20 / 30 year period.  Being pissed off at one professor isn’t worth it.  You could have got a PhD if you weren’t so angry about it.

Part of the deal with researchers is one of their duties is to teach a class or two. I know one of my other professors who just taught was pissed the one guy didn't show up even though that was what he was supposed to be doing.

I dont know for sure what you mean by "researcher" but it probably depends on the university.  If you are talking about faculty/professors then it depends on their appointment.  If they have a 100% research appointment or say a 60% research 40% public service appointment then they would not be require to teach a course.

Since the university I went to is considered a "research" university, I don't know what the % is. I just know that for a handful of my undergrad was taught by professors who weren't there to teach 200-300 level courses and viewed having to do it with almost open contempt that they had to waste their time doing this.

As said above depends on the university, appointment, duties etc.  Were you upset that the wrestling coach, football coach etc weren't teaching 200-300 level courses?

Imo he won’t admit this but he is angry he let his anger issues prevent his personal and career growth.  He would have a PhD if he didn’t pizz off half the people he needed to attain the next level of professional growth.  We all work with people we don’t like, but you have to compromise to climb that ladder.

I don't think teaching classes is part of a coach's contract at a major university. The reason I know about it is because one of my other professors actually filed some kind of complaint with the dean of our department, because somebody, not anyone I had class with, hadn't shown up to teach in 3 or 4 years, despite it being part of the deal.

You said above you didn't know the appointment %.  How do you know the teaching appointment isn't the same as the coach?

Because I know the wrestling coach and he was paid very well to coach wrestling, not teach college classes. Same with the football coach during my undergrad who was paid multi millions, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't bound to teaching either. I did know about the professors in my department during my undergrad, because the professors I had who only taught, told me. I don't know the exact % of classroom teaching to research or whatever else they were doing, but usually it was 1-2 classes per semester. So whatever that figures out to.

I never bothered pursuing a PhD because I had no real desire to get a PhD in the same subject I have my undergrad in. I got an MS in a completely different area of study.

They brought in a new prof in my Mech Eng program.   He was 100% interested in "research" into robotics etc.   I had to take a Kinematics class from him and suffered because he was obviously not interested in the subject.   Unfortunately, I allowed his contempt for having to mingle with the unwashed to affect my concentration in the class.   I can't remember what grade I got but I did ok, but I understood everything well enough to be at the top of the class or near.   Yeah, I had this same experience.
