Yes, that's how the formula works. They also have the same winning % and Ramirez has a conference championship.  He'll score higher on the formula

Agree.

Unless the formula has changed here's a breakdown between Carr & Ramirez so I could be wrong on ranking Ramirez higher...Based on last Coaches Poll & RPI

                                                                                                                     Carr  |  Ramirez

Head-to-head competition — 25 percent                                                  0      |    25

Quality wins — 20 percent                                                                           ?      |      ?

Coaches Ranking — 15 percent                                                                   15    |     0

Results against common opponents — 10 percent                                     10    |      0

RPI — 10 percent                                                                                            10  |     0

Qualifying event placement — 10 percent                                                    0    |   10

Win % — 10 percent                                                                                        5    |   5

What we have said here and hoped for here is all the way it approximately should go.

Realistically though, they could pull garbage out of their buttholes the way they have so many times in the past, and the EIWA guy (Ramirez), could even get put behind Caliendo.

Seeding rooms get veeeery weird.

I’m not saying it’s what should happen, but, to quote young frankenstein, we are suspicious…

Carr may catch Ramirez with Quality wins (using Coaches Rankings)

Carr wins vs. Wrestlers in the field.  (or ranked but not yet qualified)

In the Field: #4 Hamiti (wis), #6 Caliendo (Iowa) , #7 Olejnik (Ok State) , #8 Hall *WV) (2x), #11 Amine (Mich), #22 MIller (App St), #25 Garvin (stanford), Thomsen (UNI)

Ranked but need an at large: #12 Thompson (Ohio), #16 Heller (Pitt)

Ramirez wins vs. Wrestlers in the field (or ranked but not yet qualified)

In the Field: #2 Carr, #17 Cerniglia (Navy), #20 Brady (VT), #25 Garvin (Stanford), #31 Logan (Lehigh),

Ranked but need an at large: #14 Hepner (Ohio St), #16 Heller (Pitt), #18 Fields (NCST), #19 Mulvaney (Bucknell),

So depending on who gets in Carr could win the quality wins portion. Which would give him the seed.

Ranked wrestlers needing an at large (there are 5 spots)
#9 Fish, Michigan State

#12 Thompson Ohio

#14 Hepner Ohio St

#16 Heller Pitt

#18 Fields NC State

#19 Mulvaney, Bucknell

#29 Carlson Oklahoma

#32 Chance McLane, Arizona State

#33 Cody Walsh, Drexel

1) KOT

2)Mesenbrink

3) Carr

4) Hamiti

You could argue Carr at #3 vs Ramirez but I think in the end Ramirez edges him.  Having Hamiti ranked above Ramirez is a non starter though. I didn't see the path at all to that argument.

My guess is:

O'Toole

MM

Ramirez

Carr

Hamiti

I think we will see an KOT/Carr semifinal unless the committee intervenes to separate them.  It would be inconsistent from how they seed other brackets, but could happen as consistency and NCAA wrestling brackets usually are not used in the same sentence.

So Ramirez actually gets punished for beating Carr, if the committe intervenes and puts Carr at the #3.

Why not see Hamiti over Ramirez? Hamiti has a better record and was more dominant in his wins, plus Hamiti wrestled a tougher schedule.

Ramirez has a conference title and in common opponent (Carr) Ramirez edges Hamiti

Ramirez wouldn't have a conference title if Mesenbrink was in his conference.

That's irrelevant to seeding
