This has to be an upcoming skit for a comedy segment,  so I apologize,  if so.

HUD McVeigh Hannity has to be proud of his daughter aged girlfriend after this segment.

Summary: She "deprogramed" herself by watching 5 min YouTube videos.

Conclusion: She's an idiot. Plenty of conservative minded folks make it through the gauntlet of "wokeism" in college without getting brainwashed. I count many of them as friends. But perhaps I wasn't so lucky? I have been feeling a little woke this morning...

Question: What is the point of the right's attack on higher education? We can make jokes about them wanting to keep the population dumb so they keep voting for them, but in all seriousness, I don't understand the end goal.

My GPa-in-law was a righty before selling his business pre-pandemic, and I believe CNN programmed him into a leftist.  He lives in Florida and no longer likes Republicans.  When we visited recently after GMa-in-law passed, he watched CNN for several hours every night.  I'm sure Fox News has the same effect on people.

When I took philosophy in college, my instructor asked, "Who here believes in God?  [2 of 30].  By the end of this class, none of you will."

When I took biology in college, my instructor said "The purpose of life is to spread your seed."

Add a senior person (respect) and peers (pressure) and programming is often successful.

These reasons are far from exhaustive,  but are two primary motivating reasons behind their war on knowledge.

1. It offers a differing view to their alternate reality that they created through Murdoch's creation of Tattletale "News," as well as the criminals on AM radio.  Almost everything that they offer, especially AM radio,  is counter to facts and reality.  In fact,  one content analysis of Tattletale "News" ( it'd be even worse numbers for AM radio) showed that they say something false and/or misleading over 60% of the time.  Education counters this alternate reality.

2. I may say the most important reason is because educators are aligned with unions,  who are,  in turn,  aligned with their ultimate feared group,  Democrsts. Kill education,  you kill unions,  and kill the Democrat party.  NO BETTER evidence of this than right here in Iowa,  where our GOP legislature and gubner have killed unions,  and dismantled academic freedom to points to where cheap banana republics would be impressed.  Neither weild any power in the state.

Again,  far from exhaustive,  but 28 years of it has shown me these two things.

Unlike you, I had trouble getting woke this morning.  Stayed up way too late talking with my wife, but that's  always worth it.
You're way overthinking this.  You already have said what the reason is.  The dumber the constituents or the dumber the customers, the more money they can stick in their pockets.  This is true about politicians, banks, insurance companies, cable companies, and many others.  They all simply want us dumb.

I wasn't paying attention, did she tell us what her major in college was or what her career path is?  Hopefully it's something innocuous like fashion or interior design.  Imagine if you're going in for brain surgery and she's holding the scalpel?  Scary.

The repeal of The Fairness Doctrine certainly hasn't helped this.  I'm always amazed when I keep hearing the phrase "liberal media".  Obviously, there is a spectrum of right to left in our media, but ultimately all the biggies, including ABC, NBC, CBS, most large print media, etc. are at the heart of very large corporations primarily owned by rich guys.  As such they are big fans of the tax breaks and corporate welfare implemented by the Right.  Simple enough for me.

I've watched some old Johnny Carson reruns lately and am amazed by how he used to criticize and make fun of our political leaders of all stripes back then.  Most everybody was laughing.  Contrast that with the Dixie Chicks vs Bush2 fiasco, and it's only gotten much worse.  I guess Joni Mitchell, Barry McGuire, etc wouldn't do very well today.  Nobody would dare play their music.

This woman is not normal but she is no more representative of the average conservative young adult than the "libs of tik tok" are of the average liberal. A liberal slant to teaching however seems to be the rule rather than the exception.

The right doesn't have a "war on knowledge" (that term is as ridiculous and drama filled as the college grad in the video). They're just tired of having liberal values passed off with the knowledge or in place of it. If you don't see bias in all news, you're an idiot. Bias can simply be which stories you cover and which you don't. You don't even have to give an opinion. Bias in news is unavoidable. Bias in teaching is horrible. Taking advantage of the role a teacher plays in a child or young adults world to push your own agenda is an awful thing to do.

I'll save this for another time,  but it's maddening how the 30 percenters have duped each other into believing that bias immediately translates into inaccurate.  That's pure whiners' nonsense.

Regarding the news,  in specific,  baloney. If you watch reported news,  that sticks to the old dictum of who,  what,  why,  where,  when,  and how you will not see "bias" surface in such news.  That's the ONLY news that is worthy to me.

Someone once said- and it holds true for me- that if you can't clearly determine how a reporter votes, then you are getting neutral,  reported news.

I never addressed the accuracy of the news but you're right, you probably shouldn't go there.

Good luck finding news like described. It's very rare or doesn't even exist. If you think you found it, it just means you found your echo chamber. "They can't be biased, they agree with me and talk about all the stories I care about!"

Maybe if you can't tell how they vote, it's because your powers of perception just aren't that strong. Your perception of the news you watch has exactly zero to do with it's accuracy or bias. It sounded good though.

What was the point of this titillating little bit of journalism? She wasn't calling out a particular professor, or even a particular school, but all of higher education. The message was "Parents beware. Send your kids off to college and they will turn into a liberal monster."

While this guest may not be representative of all conservatives, Fox News is clearly entrenched in the conservative side of the biased news spectrum and they decided to give her her 15 minutes of fame. Bashing higher education for turning kids into liberals is not a new taking point for the right I don't understand what this accomplishes for conservatives.

I personally had very few instances of professors mentioning anything political, and certainly nothing akin to brainwashing. If someone changes their views while listening to a professor a few hours a week, they probably didn't hold those views close to begin with.

Or the professors made too much sense to allow the student's original views to continue to hold sway.

Facts, as they say, have a known liberal bias.

In baseball, making good calls is the umpire's job.  Coaches can influence the umpire to change their mind when a questionable call occurs.  During one game, the opposing coach told me on the side, look, I can go back to the umpire, and he will change back to my opinion.  The point is that some people's opinions are easily changed in one conversation.  Others take hours of exposure.

I'd agree with most all of that. It was a crap story from Fox. I don't think it accomplished anything. Your last paragraph, I couldn't agree with more.

I'm crying because Stephen Colbert doesn't make me all tinglingly in my no no place? I have less use for him than I do you. I'd have to have feelings to cry.

To be clear, I'm pretty sure I know which way SC voted.

A grade school ump working for pennies probably doesn't have really strong convictions about the call they made. You don't see that happening in the MLB. The managers get tossed even if it was a terrible call. Young adults should have their beliefs challenged so that they know why they hold those beliefs.

At what age do people start standing up for what is right?

Note: even the older umps under 25 can be swayed, but it is really neat to see a teenager act with confidence and control on the diamond.

85% of College Students Say Professors Reveal Political Opinions in Class

This article summarizes results from a group that surveyed 1000 students between 18-25 years of age.  The majority surveyed were democrats.

The first article says these forum participants can quote facts at each and that our bias prevents us from listening and being influenced.  The second article says that students believe professors have an influence in the classroom.  Spot on.

are you guys suggesting that colleges don't have far left curriculum?

What about college curriculums is "far left"? I was a wildlife major, so beyond gen eds, I took courses primarily in the sciences; biology, chemistry, wildlife management, genetics, statistics, etc. I know some on the right consider evolution, a round earth, and science in general to be "far left". But nothing in my courses would objectively fall under that designation. I had plenty of peers on the right and never heard any complaining.

I can't speak to business, philosophy, journalism, etc. courses, and I can only relay my experiences from the two schools I got degrees from.

I think Republicans may be thrown off by the fact that some colleges are referred to as liberal arts schools. That doesn't mean what you think it means.
