Do we see the same thing we saw with the Jap at 79 KG?  Did he just gas him out?

His match is going to be a dogfight for him to win.

This just in: It was and he did win.  Badass win for Zapf.

57 KG - Armenia on Mat B to start us out.  We need him to win to pull Flynn back in to Repechage.

65 KG - Azeri up next on Mat A.  We need him to win to pull Hardy back in to Repechage.

70 KG - Zapf has Inalbek Sheriev on Mat B in three... guy is just as legit as the Kazahk.  Former U17 Worlds Silver and Euro U23 medalist as well.

79 KG - We don't care about this weight now.  I want the Azeri to beat the Kazahk so Mr. Negative Wrestling doesn't see another match here at U23s.

97 KG - Trumble has an Armenian in Sergey Sargsyan next.  Guy beat Jaxon Smith at last years 92 KG U20s 12-2, so he is legit.  He has been on the international scene for a long time for how young he is.

Armenian at 57 KG dismantling his opponent... beating him worse than he did Flynn early.  Up 6-0 midway through the first.  Challenge requested by Armenia... they think that it should be 8-0.

Challenge failed.  6-1 Armenia 1M45S to go in the first.

Mongol now the aggressor.  Armenian playing that Seth Gross grounded game there.

Refs discussing it.  Not sure what.  Maybe a C1 on the board?

Resumes at 6-1 and the call is grounded.

I didn't give the Mongol enough credit... or he just didn't come out ready to wrestle.  He is holding his own now.  Gets a workmanlike and nearly dynamic TD.  30S to go in the first.  6-3 Armenia over Mongolia.

6-3 at the break.  Flynn looked a few inches taller than Armenia... Armenia looks a good bit taller than Mongolia and Mongolia doesn't look big.  Very lean.

Pushout for Armenia.  7-3 with 2M41S remaining.

TD Armenia, turn, and another turn.  13-3 Armenia tech with 1M53S remaining in the second.

Also, Armenia isn't that much taller, I guess... Mongol has a torso twice as long as his legs are.  Deceiving when bent over.

Flynn is pulled back in, btw.  He will have some dogfights tomorrow for a chance to medal, though.

We need the Azeri to win this match over Georgia at 65 KG on Mat A.

A lot of handfighting and jockeying for position in the opening minute.  No score.

Action called on Georgia 2M3S remaining in the first.

TD, turn, going for another and doesn't get it.  1M26S remaining in the first, the Azeri is up 4-0.

Georgia put on the clock and gives up a violation to the Azeri.  Down 5-0 with 26S remaining in the first.

Azeri on the clock now.  1M10S to go and the Azeri is up 5-1.

Missed the first 2M30S of the Zapf match.  He is down 1-0 right now, though.  I imagine it was a shot clock violation, though, as Sheriev was just given an action warning.

1-0 for the 'Neutral' athlete at the break.  He should go on the clock in the first 30s or so, though.  Basically a 1-1 match as it were right now.

Well nvm there... Sheriev gets a TD 20S in and two turns.  Up 7-0 with 2M30S to go in the 2nd.
