Bringing back an old idea to the new forum (as the initial post in the "weight class" thread had mentioned "point scored = point earned").  Not sure which stumbling block is more difficult to overcome, either dealing with decimals or extending team scores into the hundreds, but I will stick with decimals, as technology is simple and already have .5 issue in tourneys anyway.  Basic premise along the lines of Wade's theory that every point should count, while maintaining tech fall at 5 pts and pin at 6 pts.  All other decisions would earn less than 5 pts.  Intent is to make every point count (not just when getting the lead to 8 for a major), as well as to increase action and scoring (as for most casual fans, a 2-1 match is quite boring). Option A is simply 3 team points plus 10% of the MOV, such that 2-0 is 3 + .2 = 3.2, while 10-2 is 3.8 and 14-2 is worth 4.2, up to max of 4.4 for a MOV of 14. Option B incentivizes scoring by also adding in a factor of the number of points scored by the winning wrestler, such that an 11-10 win earns considerably more points than a 1-0 win.  The math here is based on 2 team points for the win, plus the MOV factor (0.1 up to 1.4) as well as the action factor (10% of winning wrestler's score, up to a max of 1.5 for scoring 15 points, such that team points can't exceed 5 for a tech fall).  Examples:  2-1 win is 2+.1+.2=2.3 pts, while 8-6 is 2+.2+.8=3 pts.  Rather than including a spreadsheet with all scoring situations, I will include multiple scores that would produce 3 team points:  5-0, 6-2, and even 9-8, while 4 team points could be earned for:  10-0, 11-2, 12-4 and 13-6.  Basic premise is that rather than sitting on a 3-0 lead, perhaps we would see more action, for even giving up a point or 2 would be offset by more scoring.  I am having trouble thinking of other sports that have not tweaked their rules to increase scoring (in the interest of growing the fan base), from football to baseball and basketball. Conversely, wrestling may be the only sport where the average score (in an individual match) has decreased.

I don't mean to be an idiot...

...BUT...

Can you please break that up in to paragraphs?

I have no care to read it as one large run on paragraph.

wade's ideas are bonkers, but i don't mind this. it's worth considering.
