Cops reported it as an active 'aggressor' rather than a shooter.  Inaccurate, deceptive and dangerous.  Hopefully it doesn't become a widespread euphemism to minimize the societal impact of shootings.

There is no truer sentence!  Just wish people...cough cough, you, cough cough...could use the same lens when looking at all things that are written/said and how they are worded.
