What is going on with the coaching carousel at UPenn?

From 2022 they've had BJ Futrell(AAx2), Bryan Pearsall, Mark Hall(NC), Darian Cruz(NC), and Tyler Berger(AAx2)

Granted Byrd is a good get coming right out of college but is that a good trade for Cruz? . Its 6/5 if he can grow into a decent coach.  Wolak is also young, having just left VA Tech two years ago. Kiernan seems like quite a step down from the names listed above.

C'mon Penn!

Should they be worried?

Seems like good candidates are not interested in being associated with this program anymore. They might not see it as a feather in their cap but rather an anchor. Maybe its the same reason that there is a curious absence of coaches listed, starting just before Covid. With the exception of Mike McMullan but that seems easy to defend. I've heard good things.

With 3X AA and 2 time natty champ Matt Valenti in his 2nd year as head coach and with Pat Santoro taking over the PRTC our program is in very good shape.
Outside of the Big 10 we have one of the toughest schedules this year.

Cruz and Berger both stepped back from coaching to focus on their own pursuits (Cruz - freestyle/Berger - MMA).  I don't think that's reflective of Penn but rather a shift in personal priorities especially for Cruz as 28 Oly is likely it for him.  Coaching will be there after

And Pearsall to Oklahoma State with his buddy DT.

Look at college and pro coaches resumes, esp after a change at the top.  It is very common for coaches to be absolute nomads as they search for job advancement or change of scenery.  Sheesh! The sky is not falling! What an overreactive post.

"Tumult" and "carousel" take is silly.  With Cruz, he is still in the Penn wrestling ecosystem and featured on the front page of the PRTC web page.  https://www.pennsylvaniartc.org/   The new PRTC Director/Coach is his old college coach, Pat Santoro.  They have not lost Cruz, they gained Byrd.  A strong culture and program and should be a fun year.   Keystone coming up is going to be a very strong field.

Wolak also having experience as an Ivy guy is a positive as well.

C'mon Penn!  WTF?
