45kg:

  • Kvasniuk UKR: Euro champ did not give up a point closest match was 2-0 over Hasanov who is also in the field, won by tech in his other two matches.
  • Damercheli IRI: Teched his way through Asians would be for my money the favorite without any info on Russia rep
  • Aldar Bamdaev RUS: No info that I can find Russias cadet team has not been spectacular as of recently so hard to predict what we are going to get here.
  • Rylen Wax USA: Very well versed for such a young guy at the international styles, double up at the open in freestyle and greco and won gold at pan ams in both styles this year. He also competed last year getting silver in both styles at Pan ams. What is hard for me here is that he has had two extremely close results in what I will consider domestic bouts. He beat Nelson Villafane 9-8 at pan ams which is a result he flipped from the year prior, and won the spot over Cyrus Millage with a last second 4 in match 3 down 9-5. Now Millage would go on to beat Villafane in a razor thin match at fargo for the title so these 3 are certainly the best 45kg guys we have. It is just hard to use that info and extrapolate it out against the international field, what I will say though is Wax can score in bunches and in a 4 minute match I think that is an enormous advantage.

Predictions: Gold, Demercheli Silver, Wax Bronze, Bamdaev Bronze, Kvasniuk

48kg:

  • Razade AZE: u15 euro champ and u17 euro champ outscoring the field 41-0
  • Kanta Nagao JAPAN: did not compete at Asians but will more than likely be extremely proficient at getting to legs and have a strong lace game
  • Kirill KONDRASHOV RUS: u15 Euro champ in 2025 at 44kg outscored the field 42-0 including an 8-0 win over Hasanov who dominated his way to a 51kg euro title this year
  • Mahkmudov UZB: finished all of his matches inside of 4 minutes at Asians, beat the guy who japan sent but that was not Nagao, notably turns 17 this year so will be a year or two older than most of the field.
  • Kooper Deputy USA: Absolute DOG I think he is the best wrestler on our cadet team this weight seems like it could be tough but hes scary good

Predictions: Gold, Deputy Silver, Kondrashov, Bronze, Razade Bronze, Mahkmudov

51kg:

  • Masume Ushimado JAPAN: 5th last year at 48kg Asian silver
  • Mayvan IRI: Asian champ beating Ushimado 6-4 win the finals
  • Rahkatov KAZ: Asian bronze lost to Ushimado 6-4 2-1 last year at 48kg taking 7th
  • Ibrahim Hasnaov AZE: Euro champ outscored the field 44-3
  • Restivo USA: Unfortunate that Mills got injured I think he would be the clear favorite but I liked what I saw out of Restivo against Soto at Pan am's

Predictions: Gold, Mayvan Silver, Hasanov, bronze, Restivo bronze, ushimado

55kg:

  • Arman Elahi IRI: 2024 u15 asian champ 2026 u17 asian champ had relatively competitive matches with Japan and uzbekistan
  • Bersanukaev RUS: Won russian nationals so he is probably quite good, outside of that I do not have a ton of info on him but I am expecting a stud
  • Karenbauer USA: I do not expect anyone to be able to handfight with Chase quite honestly kid is super advanced for his size and age and I think he will be pretty big for the weight
  • Temirlan Murat KAZ: Asian Bronze

Predictions: Gold, Karenbauer Silver, Bersanukaev Bronze, Elahi Bronze, Murat

60kg:

  • Sitender IND: Returning 60kg champ as well as going 1-1 in 2024 only returning champ in the tournament.
  • Ibrohimov UZB: Asian champ with 1 tech and 3 very competitive matches
  • Karmrian RUS: Euro champ
  • Kuzmenko UKR: Euro champ
  • Valdez ITA: from the eye test standpoint outside of his match with Karmrian which got away from him he looked the best at the tournament to me
  • Jojo Burke: No real data against international competition or guys that have competed internationally that I can find however I think that win at the open is enormous for burke mentally. Always a guy that placed everywhere but seemed to always be in that third place match, coupling that with his ability and Jersey style vs international guys I think he will do very well.

Predictions: Gold, Sitender Silver Karmrian Bronze, Burke Bronze, Valdez

65kg:

  • Ibragimov RUS: So the Russian that won Euros Mongush was the most impressive guy I saw in that tournament, he hit this wrist shuck to a far ankle that was a thing of beauty. If Ibragimov is better that is extremely impressive and he will be one of the favorites despite going 1-1 last year here.
  • Rashid Nazarov AZE: Euro second lost to Mongush 14-2 in the finals was in some competitive matches getting there.
  • ARSHADGHASABSARAEI IRI: Did not compete at asians but wrestled at cadets in 2024 going 0-1 I think making it to worlds as a 15 year old is pretty darn impressive and it was at 51kg.
  • Krishan IND: This is interesting because Vineet was the asian rep and got silver but Krishan is competing here, assuming Vineet did not get hurt and Krishan just earned the spot means he should be a stud
  • Minato WATATANI JAPAN: similarly to the above, Hiura actually won Asians but they are sending Watatani and I am more certain that is a result of him being the better guy because Japan often send their second team to continentals.
  • Kikinou USA: you can call it home town cooking and while I think this is the toughest weight, I would be hard pressed to find a better 17 year old when it comes to purely international style abilities than Kikinou the way this kid can work the edge and his par terre is absolutely unreal.

Predictions: Kikinou Gold, Watatani Silver Ibragimov Bronze, Krishan Bronze

71kg:

  • Iliev BUL: Euro champ beating Russia in the finals 7-6 not the same Russian entered here however. Only other competitive match was a 7-5 win over Purcu from Turkey who is also in this field
  • RYSBAY KAZ: Dominated through Asians but Iran had a different rep
  • Shamispour IRI: I am making the assumption that this is the other Shamispours brother, if I am right in that assumption he is going to be absurdly good, was not in the field at Asians.
  • Cam Howard USA: All KD trained guys do is win cadet golds, I have admittedly not watch nearly as much Cam as I have Jayden and PJ. From what I have seen though he is also very good in that wizzer seat belt position which is somewhere guys who are not ready seem to love to get to and relax and then the KD guys always take advantage. Also worth noting iranians love underhooks but I am not sure if they are ready for the pressure in limp arm far leg in clinic.
  • Mokhmad BAISULTANOV RUS: I know nothing about this gentleman but the guy that wrestled at Euros looked solid and I am just making the general assumption that if you wrestled at continentals and are not here rather than being injured you got beat out

Predictions: Howard Gold, Shamispour silver, Rysbay Bronze, Baisultanov Bronze

80kg:

  • Nihad SULEYMANLI AZE: Gave up two points at Euros to a Georgian who will be competing here and has been to two previous cadets so I am guessing this guy is pretty darn stingy
  • Ferasati IRI: Blitzed the field at Asians outside of a 2-1 over Yerbalotav of KAZ super physical and will likely give a lot of guys issues given the age level we are talking about
  • Jaydin O Farrill Usa: I think some people may forget how good this kid is, missed the entire season for an injury but if you could depict a Pitbull wrestling in a style it would be O' Farrills. His frame has always concerned me a little bit against the highest level guys and I think 3:3 periods definitely benefit him compared to 2:2's but rest assured he is going to sprint every second of the match and has a lto of ways to score.

Predictions: O' Farrill gold, Ferasati silver, Suleymanli Bronze, Rysbay Bronze

I always grow tired by the big boys and for that I apologize so going to condense these

92kg: Tsarni is very good as is evident by his wins over Hutcherson who has beaten college guys, but 92kg is heavy, Shabani from Russia is very very good, he lost in last years Euro finals to a young man who would go on to get bronze at worlds 6-5 as a 15 year old at 92kg's. Dadani from France who I presume is also somewhat Russian will also be a tough out. Isazdeh won Asians and hes an Iranian upper weight so yes he digs hooks and is super physical.

Predictions: Shabani Gold, Isazdeh IRI silver, Tsarni Bronze, Dadani Bronze

110kg: Taghiyev AZE on paper should be a pretty stout favorite here as a returning bronze medalist, however he lost to Bagdiavadzeh a returning 5th who just happened to lose to two absolute hammers last year. Arush RANA of India is a big boy and seemed to break the Iranian in the finals at Asians I think he is probably my pick to win the weight. Overall I am not sure if I am quite as high on peter at this juncture as I am Michael but I am very ready for him to prove me wrong.

Predictions: Rana Gold, Bagdavadzeh Silver, Taghiyev Bronze, Youseffbad Bronze

Amazing info. Thank you. Here were my original predictions with zero knowledge of the field.

After reading your synopsis, I’d probably have Mocco DNP and Tsarni silver

was not checing forums sir the brain, I thought Peter and Kooper wrestled really well despite losing and have a good shot of getting drawn back in. Solis looks freaking awesome. The O'farrill loss was a bit surprising to me not that he looked bad but I may have not accounted for change in training evironment from Mccort to state enough. Not to say by any means hes not in a great place to train but Mccort is like being in a college room. Overall not a great morning but I am claiming Solis for USA so thats a win and I think Koop, Peter, Kikinou have good shots of getting back for bronze, Solis has an absolute killer in the Russian in the semis.

how is your sig bet still in effect? didn't that happen long ago?

O'Farrill has been training at SC for quite a while. he looked good in Vegas 🤷‍♂️

the guy he lost to was a returning medalist. i thought he'd make the finals but the Iranian just did Iranian things to him.

agree though, no one wrestled 'bad'. Mocco had what both of us considered the best guy at the weight coming in.

we can still get up to 4 to day 2.

I just have not taken the time to change it its become part of my brand at this point. The match was re wrestled at natties when it really counted and the guy I had picked won so its just a reminder that I am never wrong just early. State is going to have an unreal team this year I will be trying to attend a lot of matches.

Deputy gets pulled back in Karenbauer on now down 4-2 to Tovar in a challenge.

Tovar somehow wins challange getting the only two points up 6-0 at best should have been 2-2 tovar in on a shot converts and gets a turn wins 10-0. Tovar looked great do not agree with the call at all though.

I finally watched the match- totally disagree with you Truzz I think they called it perfectly and that should never be 2 for Karenbauer, also Tovar just overmatched Karenbauer on their feet I don't think it was making a difference either way

Overall not the best morning session for Team USA, sucks I missed most of it live but I got caught up.

Kooper had the kid stuck, but also he was out freestyled in that match. They got into a lot of funky positions that kid from India is fun to watch. He can get bronze.

Karenbauer looked good, Tovar was just better in that semi. Would expect him to win his bronze match but obviously won't be easy and the India kid wrestled Tovar close.

Kikinou played with a fire a little bit too much IMO, was too content to win 1-0 and that exposure he gave up was unfortunate, I know that he was frustrated with it and that is what led to the challenge he lost to go down 5. Unfortunate Solis didn't make it to finals but that Russian is a beast, he hit a sick exposure into a takedown and that lace was brutal.

O'Farrill lost to a good guy and that Iranian who took out the TJK kid is a machine. He doesn't normally lose in some of those 50/50 positions that TJK kid must be super strong there.

Sucks Mocco didn't get pulled back in. 2 alive of the first 5 is not ideal but the other 5 can hopefully make some noise.

Right now Russia, Iran, and UZB all have 2 finalists+ guys in repechage so some ground has to be made up (but easily can)

i have no expectations for U17...

it is the age group that really does not mean much at all particularly in greco where constant engagement, strength and maturity play a much bigger role than actual technique...

just merely pointing out we get medals in age group greco way more than this forum realizes...

I thought because the action started in bounds that 2-2 was ok however I just dont see how Karenbauer does not get the initial 2 prior to the exposure. Regarldess I completely agree Tover was getting to that dump/single seemingly automatically.

We had a run of about 4-5 years with probably the best crop of uber elite young guys we have seen since we really started as a nation putting a focus on age level so I think its just a little bit of a reality check. That being said we can still get 4 bronze with guys from today and everyone yet to go tomorrow! I also think our u20 and u23 teams are going to be really freaking good.

I just feel like when Tovar hits that midair "switch" by crossing his arm over Karenbauers arm and in between his legs that its a continuation once they hit the ground and some control or exposure is required for it to be 2

I will have to slow it down and watch it back I thought he had sat him to his but and then kinda over ran his feet and tovar switched it through but if it was mid air then I would agree certainly tovars points. As you mentioned though Tovar was very much in control and I think actually had he worked hard to take his guts to the same side of the trap arm off his first two takedowns he could have ended it sooner.
