I think top 3 is an incredibly good wrestler… if you make the senior national team consistently then you can very rightfully be named top tier… Schultz was always a Greco guy from the start… since he was a kid… he very even tried to make an age level leg grabbing team… still a 5X AA in folk… You really just do not know the landscape at all, do you dummy?

LJB Posted July 18 Posted July 18 It’s like some of you guys don’t even think a little about this stuff… just blather on with no understanding nor attempt at consideration… Schultz is the absolute worst wrestler to try and make a point about leg grabbing vs the man’s style… Schultz literally is a 5XX in the worst style for the way he wrestles and was a finalist… there are 24 other letters in the alphabet and nuance is a legitimate attribute of critical thinking…

LJB Posted July 18 Posted July 18 No disrespect to zilmer at all… it is clear he loves wrestling and is good enough at both free and Greco to be competitive domestically at the senior level… the fact is he has wrestled at 92, 97, and 125kgs across Greco and free and the only team he has made is heavy leg grabbing… Anyone really trying to argue that there is no way Schultz could have ever made a senior world team is either disingenuous or just plain stupid… I think you both slot into each category…

Jake Plamann was a Greco guy who never did a whole lot in folkstyle (except beat Askren). He wrestled at the USOEC at NMU after high school.

Fadzaev2 Posted July 18 Posted July 18 I coached wrestling over 40 years, highly successful.....when I was young I wrestled freestyle and greco.....I'm not a big fan of greco other than to incorporate upperbody as another weapon in freestyle/folkstyle....Banach, Burley, Lewis, Schultz's, Nate Carr all used some upperbody....but for Ben to bring up pickleball????? I taught physical education for 40 years also, and had a "rec" games unit which by 1979 included pickleball before it was known in most places. Great game.....no way it should be compared to greco-roman wrestling.....not a big deal, jus sayin'. Wishing Ben the best tonight with his match tonight on RAF 11. There's only a couple of matches I'm interested in, but he's certainly one of them.
