Mark Manning addressed Ferrari....looks like some people who have a negative narrative about him just lost. Manning "loved him" " good guy" "misunderstood " - will get another year, doesn't know about two...and needs knee surgery.

I think the major deal was the surgery with ziola behind him

So far they have 3 spots open, probably a 125, 184, and one of the CBU guys from Nebraska

Sounds like 184 is almost guaranteed they are bringing someone in. Id guess 125 would be the other. 141 and 149 they are sitting ok.

184lbs is the priority with 125lbs second but Zepeda (149lbs) would be a no-brainer with 4 years of eligibility….

AJ wants to go 197lbs and McDanel didn’t want to RS after 2 years in a row as AA. Can’t blame him. Ziola isn’t going to sit and miss a year so there just isn’t a spot for AJ next season at Nebraska. McDanel RS and AJ stays and goes 197lbs.

Yep - as Manning himself said, AJ was great on the team, loves the kid, but having knee surgery is a big game changer. You can't commit a bunch of money to a guy who is going to be rehabbing when you have a competent starter behind him and you can allocate resources to greater needs. It's a good roster and business decision.

I  like Manning   He seems to be able to attract and retain. In this world it’s a home run as a coach.

Wasn't The Focus caught speeding away from Lincoln to Omaha?  🚗

He said in his presser today that he wouldn't pass up an opportunity to bring in someone that would help out the team and make them a better tourney team. I personally think that he was alluding to 149 but we'll see. Dailey is coming on a visit soon at 184 also.

Looking for 184 pounder for sure. He said they are looking to bring a couple guys in. Id guess 184 and another light weight

Thinking 3 very talented freshmen starters: Hockaday at 141, Zinkin 149, Ziola 285.  Xfer at 184 maybe.  At 125, Lauridsen is a Nebraska native, got 7th at big ten and won a match at nationals, so it's not a "hole" per se, but you need an AA contender at every weight nowadays to make that program leap to perennial team trophies.

Ridge and Caleb Smith mentioned McCrone was on visit during their radio/streaming show.

That would be a nice get! He has 1 year left?

Manning has been there for twenty five years. Prior to NIL and the the craziness across the nation in the past two years, also Nebraska's best seasons in those 25 years (ncaa tournament wise) the program was very good. The truth is he inherited a very good program and for 23 years he kept it very good. The last two have been elite level but they have bought, like everyone else, to attain that.  I have no problem there but to claim they built it and they are doing it differently is just not true. I just don't understand the hype around him based upon his total tenure there.

The last two years have been his and the program's best years, but to suggest that difference in his first 23 years, particularly in the consistency, was on par with their history before he took over is nonsensical.

They are buyers now, but the team that finished 2nd last year had only 1 transfer who had never AA'd before coming to Nebraska.  They recruit pretty well but do not typically have top 2 or 3 teams in recruiting rankings so I don't see the issue with them claiming he built the program up.

I thought it was obvious to everyone, but I guess it went over so many peoples head, that Manning statement was trying to speak to recruits and brag how they make guys better once they get on campus.

When you compare numbers from the first 23, not including the last two years, to the 15 of Neumann, I just don't see much to support that claim. They are very similar on a per year comparison.

This is one that makes sense to me. Maybe Jordan Williams would work at 149 too (crazy take, I know)??
