Mesenbrink.....

I am not a PSU guy; but he was so dominant from start to finish that it would feel wrong for him not to win it!!

My top-3 taking all things into consideration:

1) Mesenbrink
2) Forrest
3) Barr

197 did not feel that deep this year; that is the only reason why Barr is not #2!

MM will win, although Barr has a decent argument.

Based on the Finals performances of Barr and MM, I think it easily goes to MM now. To TF a wrestler the caliber of Caliendo, especially on your ninth meeting, is an audacious feat. Here are the relevant stats per Cornell Kevin:

Seems with Mendez losing in the finals and MM remaining undefeated, winning the title (x2), doing so with a TF, finishing with only one non-bonus win, the award should  be MM’s to lose. But who knows how the voting will go? There’s a lot of PSU fatigue nowadays. 🤷‍♂️

I think Hodge deserves to go to MM. Complete domination all season. Props to Hepner for keeping that one match close.

Barr could've had it, but he barely beat Merrill, a 7(?) seed seed true freshman.

OW should go to Jax, best competition, best story, absolute phenom. I think he wrestled a total of 6 minutes before the final. Unheard of.

MM was a next topic guy all year.  He and Mendez both seriously upped their game this year.  I watched every MM match of his career.   This year saw a major leap in his top game.  Rather than catch and release, he rode many an opponent trying to get the pin.   This is why his narrow MD decisions were still dominant with massive amounts of riding time.

Caliendo is a great wrestler and can beat anyone not name Mesenbrink.  He was just as good this year as last, but still lost ground to MM.

Carter is a hard one to figure out sometimes. Why voluntarily post something like this that pits two or three of your former teammate Hodge trophy contenders against each other? As a Penn State fan, it also could have the effect of further splitting the vote and allowing someone else to win. At least wait until the Hodge is awarded and then post your opinion. Color me perplexed.

The semis and finals clinched it for MM. When you look at how he got his TF's all year, and his pins, he's just all-around more dominant. Anybody thinking Barr deserves it is probably smoking PCP and pronounces their own name wrong. If Jax had wrestled the whole year, he might've won it, but he didn't.
