Explanations should give precise logic for the points.
-
Got to feel good about 10-5 going in, being that Hidlay has scored all 15 points.
-
The explanations are so non-specific.

I would have to imagine the heart issue was really hindering him. We will have a good idea after the next RAF and Bill Ferrell I'm sure.

Has a high school ever had a better big 3 than McCort?
fishbane replied to Truzzcat's topic in High School Wrestling
Weren't both DIakomihalis and Lee injured as high school seniors? If not for that maybe we would have seem them wrestle more on the senior level. I think Diakomihalis had surgery on his elbow (both elbows?) and missed his entire senior season. Lee wrestled with a torn ACL as a senior opting the delay surgery until after PIAAs. If you don't like comparing the past wrestlers to NCAA and senior level athletes because of the small sample size, perhaps the recruiting class rankings would be more appropriate. There are only recruiting class rankings for the past 20 years or so, so it's still somewhat limited. Here are the recruiting rankings for some big threes mentioned in the thread. Bishop McCort: Bassett (#1 2026), Miller (#1 2027), Forrest (#2 2026), Herring (#27 2026) 2013? St. John Bosco: Aaron Pico (#1+? 2016?), Anthony Valencia (#1 2015), Zahid Valencia (#3 2015) 2010 Blair: Villalonga (#3 2010), Evans (#4 2010), Grey (#7 2012) 2009 Blair: Villalonga (#3 2010), Ruth (#5 2009), Grey (#7 2012) 2004 Davison: Metcalf (#2 2005), Reader (#10 2006), Donahoe (#? 2004) 2010 Monroeville: Logan Stieber (#1 2010), Hunter Stieber (#7 2011), Chris Phillips (#11 2011), Cam Tessari (#31 2011) 2015 Franklin Regional: Lee (#1 2017), Kemerer (#8 2015), Shields (#13 2015), Maruca (#55 2015) 2014 Blair: Kolodzik (#6 2015), McKenna (#8 2014) Manville (#10 2016) I think the closest to have three top 2 recruits is probably St. John Bosco with Pico and the Valencias. Though Pico only wrestled at states hi freshman year (2013). Pico also wasn't on the recruiting rankings probably since he went pro in high school. He probably would have been #1 in 2016 ahead of Mark Hall. That makes 3 top 3 wrestlers on the same team. McCort has A lot of the Blair big 3s only existed for a limited time as Evans and Ruth were only there for a year and Manville transferred to Wyoming Seminary at some point too. -
He won the challenge, though.

Okay but great at tournament for Iran still even with only 1 gold so far.

This part. One of the most helpful things Brands could do for Spencer right now is watch tape with him. Lee is notorious for spending exactly zero time gameplanning against opponents, and it's a skill that he's never developed. While it's a flex for sure to just do your own thing and force wrestlers to have to adjust to you, this approach has bitten him in the past and now we're talking about World level best-of-the-best caliber competition. Going into matches blind and having to figure things out in real-time puts him at an automatic disadvantage no matter how good you are. It was a good move by Brands to allow the Otoguros to come train with Lee & DeSanto, but he needs to be smarter with his "don't overthink it" philosophy. Yes, Spencer shouldn't overthink all the what-ifs and let anxiety take over his game. OTOH, I think it would help to go a level deeper and study some film and learn a thing of two. Hell, bring in Kozak, have him teach Spencer how to analyze and break down match footage. That would be a tremendous help.

WOW worst challenge ever; hidlay lost 2 points on that challenge smh
-
not sure what hidlay is challenging; this is how freestyle works
-
Mat side advice is basically pointless. I wouldn't judge him on that. The coaching is done during training. I think he is a good coach, but a very irritating personality. Sometimes you want to reach through the screen and strangle him, lol.
-
But, does Kurugliev plan on making one last go for the Olympics? You got to think a big part of his physicality and improvements in those regards are due to him having Kurugliev as a training partner.
-
Who does Kougioumtsidis train with?
-
gadzhi up 6-0 doing a great job neutralizing hidlay's underhook so far
-
Not even close. I will take more individual goals for no team title any day
-
I am one of the people who wants him fired. I don't see any evidence that he and his team do a good job of analyzing their opponents well. I have never seen him yell good advice to the wresltlers. I saw a video on Instragram were he yells "push him" and then after Zare gets taked down, he yells "why are you pushing him for no reason?" I like the idea of Reza Yazani. I also like the idea of Babak as a coach or at least assistant coacj
-
i feel like a lot of people were saying this about zahid given his previous performances..
-
It's lunch time and I'm having a GOLDEN HOAGIE
-
congrats on the team title, guys
-
Hidlay should win this, right? This guy lost to Mike Mach?
-
Also can't wait for some of your Greco guys. Saravi my favorite wrestler in all Greco Esmaeili and the 130kg guys are also legit.
-
Yes. This group won 5 golds ( like the USA) at 2021 junior worlds in Russia

Sr. Worlds... Day 3
Interviewed_at_Weehawken replied to D3 for LU's topic in International Wrestling
If I remember correctly, Iran had a great run in U17 and U20 with this group of guys (and their peers). They are now enjoying the fruits of their harvest. -
Do you guys value team title more or individual golds with no team title.
