  1. Lol i take it to a whole new level? Wow thats rich. Considering ive dedicated a huge portion of my life around this sport you clearly dont know ehat youre talking about. Yea i said certain types of fans annoy me. Certain types that cannot see whats right in front of them. Fans like you. What are you some hawkeye insider? Are you part of the hawkeye report "inner circle?" Youre statement of "take it from meeee Brands has changed his waysss" Sure buddy, you dont get more pro brands than that. Yes fanbases are tribal in nature, but all the posturing is lame. Seeing interview after interview where Brands starts yelling stuff like "AND THATS NOT PUTTING THEM ON A PEDESTAL" is sorry. None of my posts are made in "bad faith" theyre my opinion which I always support with events and things that actually happened, not just a mere "take it from me" as if youre some sort of authority on the matter. The fact you dont share my opinion is what makes them "bad faith" to you. You clearly DONT remember my posts on themat. Sure im not a fan of the Brands method. It terrible seeing guys who COULD great endings finish things with such disappointment year after year after year. Its a pattern. You say things have changed, I say where???
  2. No bad faith at all. I been around for years on the previous Matforums before it shut down. You're clearly way too sensitive and blind to some issues Iowa is facing. Yea im critical of Iowa but its mainly because they often strut around like theyre the be all end all and then fade at NCAAs. Its trend. Their guys are always beaten up and burned out come the big dance and tbh its fans like you who can't see what right in front of your face that annoys me more than anything else. That being said.. there you have it guys! Brands has changed his philosophy! Not because of any change in actions, not by any real measurable metric, but because the peanut butter man says so.
  3. Interesting to see Peterson try 2 things that worked against Davis in previous matches.. double unders and dropping to a knee..
  4. Nothing bad faith about my statements here. You're just salty Mr Peanutbutter. Just pointing out what i see as a trend coming out of that program. As for Brands evolving, I dont see it. I pretty much see a few small baby step attempts (everyone remmeber the whole "SMILE" movement they tried a few years ago) with a swift return to the norm.
  5. How many season did Bubba Jenkins wrestle under Cael? He was part of the previous regime and his personality and training style didnt align with the one that Cael Sanderson brought to PSU. That being said, Metcalf, Ramos, and Gilman were all TommBrands recruits and wrestlers. They have all made statements that at the very least and a touch/tone which CAN be interpreted as negative, right or wrong. When Metcalf says "you know how it is over there" it doesnt sound like praise. How about you give another example that was from a wrestler and was recruited and wrestled for Cael? Closest one I can think of would possibly be Suriano, but hes always been a mysterious guy. Heck after he won his first NCAA title he was walking through the hallways, and Shakur Rasheed walked by and congratulated him, where Suriano says "PSU is all class." You can interpret the words of Metcalf/Ramos/Gilman however you want. You can justify and argue til the sunrises that if they have negative feelings theyre unjusitifed or they have no reason to, but the point it that doesnt matter. Some people can and will interpret it as negative.
  6. Imo Metcalfs while not overtly negative, doesnt exactly come accross and complimentary when talking about culture. Do you think Pearsall, Molinaro, Ruth, Hall, Vincenzo, or Berge would ever feel this current roster at PSU would look at them and think of them as traitors or a douche? Yet that is the sentiment at Iowa. Iowa craps on Schwab and Dresser all the time. That culture doesnt come out of nowhere. Gilman and Ramos were both "franchise" wrestlers for the hawkeyes. Regardless of the reason however valid/invalidmthey maybe its still troubling to me that a past team's biggest star later looks back at the program they came from with negative feelings. I'm kind of perplexed at how you dont see that as an issue that atleast somewhat paints the program in a negative light.
  7. Gibson's lack of height will be a big problem for him at 141...
  8. You dont need 100% of graduates for my statement to be true. The fact that a number of their former top guys/leaders feel this way is a problem. Denying this is a problem.
  9. You dont find it odd how Metcalf speaks about Iowa? What about St John? Obviously the Ramos incedent. Gilman thing. These guys were once the face of the Iowa team. You may be able to explain and justify the reasoning, BUT it doesnt change the fact there is some friction.
  10. Neither comes out and outright says "negative" things about the program or enviornment, but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to see the negativity is implied. Also seeing the current day relationship between Iowa and several of its former top guys speaks volumes. If youre looking for outright trash talking i doubt youll find it. I dont know about you, but i assume moet top levep talent want to graduate from a school and leave with a long standing posiive relationship, not one with bitterness or anomosity.
  11. The statement from Metcalf of about needing to "grow up" and "you know the environment there" speaks volumes to me. Wrestlers should look back at their experience with positivity yet with Iowawe have multiple guys who were the team leader and face of the program during their years that obviously have negative feelings looking back. You gotta think hearing these stories hurts iowa's ability to recruit top talent.
  12. Go to about 20 min in.
  13. A few years when Gilman was still with the HWC and shortly after winning world silver, he and Metcalf had a confrontation at an event at a bar. Forget the name of the event, but the bottomline is Gilman was calling Metcalf a traitor for going to ISU. Metcalf responded with "once you leave the bubble you will understand" Few years later, Gilman runs into Metcalf and apologizes for the altercation and tells Metcalf "you were right, i get it now." Metcalf talks about it in an interview floating around on youtube. Ill have to hunt it down.
  14. We all know Cael has a plan, but the question is does Christian Pyles?
  15. If he refuses Fornite because it for "kids" Settle it with Street Fighter 2.
  16. Metcalf to Gilman - "Once you leave the bubble you will understand" Years later Gilman to Metcalf - "I apologize, and you were right. I get it now." That right there explains the problem at Iowa. As for the Iowa/PSU comparision... Iowa gets constantly compared to PSU because theyre constantly comparing themselves to PSU. If they would focus on imdproving themselves and being the best versions of themselves, maybe they would catch PSU. Instead theyre focused on and obsessed with chasing PSU. They bring this mindset on themselves.
  17. Thanks for proving the point
  18. Woods made the finals.. and lost to a guy he previously had a win over. Eierman made the finals.. and lost to a guy he previously had wins over...
  19. Lugo is the exception not the rule.
  20. Spencer Lee would have won 4 had he gone to PSU. He also would have been healthy and have several world medals now.
  21. Someone doesnt like tough wrestling
  22. MM is just a better more technical and savvy wrestler. Desanto is more physicality that can be contained by elite wrestlers
  23. Tim Johnson was goo goo ga ga over Amine saying how great he is... and then Amine lost. Reminded me of his commentary during the Metcalf vs Darrion Caldwell where he kept saying the storm is coming the storm is coming. and then it never came..
  24. He certainly would have been more healthy. Brands runs his guys into the ground.
  25. I think Davis adjusts and supasses Ayala at Big Tens and NCAA. Nagao Schreiver went about as expected as possible Bartlett looked sharp. Woods looks like hes HEW. Kasak will surpass Rathjen like Davis will surpass Ayala I dont know what Vak was grumbling about Haines looking big. To me he looks skinny. The opposite of big. Messenbrink is just plain better than Cliendo Starrocci looked bored and disinterested. Didnt look like he was trying in the 3rd.. and honestly didnt need to. Truax match was boring. Wasnt too impressed. I think Arnold would beat Truax. Glazier held position didnt try to score. Brooks wrestled safe as the dual was already wrapped up. If he needed to open up (which he obviously didnt need to) would have definitely been a major or tech. Kirk just plain on a different level and size imo was not a factor. At heavyweight is not a big deal and Kueter is nowhere near a a 197lber. Kirk also wrestled a safe match. If he wanted to blow the doors off he could have.
