  1. That was mean… not sure which one it was mean to, though…
  2. That’s what a guy who drives a Honda Fit but dreams of one day of owning a Smart car would say. Not an exact parallel, but the point is the same. Like I said, we are our own worst enemy in wrestling, being satisfied with mediocrity. It is ok to want more, to want better, to not be grateful just for being allowed to exist.
  3. And JB in the background wishing he had taken those shoes off last weekend, because going 74 next year isn't looking good for him.
  4. What bnwtwg said, retaliatory practices, failure to maintain a safe work environment, non-action on sexual assault/harassment complaints, etc... and this is all under that auspices of the sport's National Governing Body. Luckily, big media doesn't care too much about women anymore, unless those women have penises, because they could take this story and blow it up using a selective narrative they've grown so adept at using in recent years.
  5. As customers, we have invested in the company. When one invests in something, it is reasonable for them to expect growth and returns. Say you bought a new car and the engine blew up after 1000 miles. You go back to the dealer, and he says, "Tough shit. If you think you can make a better car, maybe you should buy a factory, hire engineers and build your own car." Would you just say, "Yeah, you're right. I couldn't do it. I guess I'll just buy another car from you that'll blow up after 1000 miles."?
  6. Mark obviously saw my post.
  7. This will probably save athletic departments, because they were looking to be in a world of hurt due to NLI/collectives. If people could write-off donations to collectives, my guess, within five years, the only donations they’d be getting would be the mandatory donations by season ticket holders and people wanting their names on buildings. This will give athletic departments a leg up on getting more big donations from rich people who don’t like paying taxes on money they give away. Collectives will rely on smaller donations, since most of us peasants just do our taxes on TurboTax and take the standard deduction, anyhow.
  8. The problem lies in FloSports’ “arrogance”, so to speak, that they do not need to improve because the customer doesn’t have a better choice. The wrestling community is its own worst enemy when it comes to being complacent with the status quo (mediocrity). I don’t think customer complaints made to Flo make any difference. It needs to be more of a consumer advocacy campaign directed to USAW and UWW. An open letter/petition calling on USAW and UWW to demand excellence from Flo when broadcasting their events and hold Flo accountable when they do not uphold those standards. This is likely how they lost the MLS contracts. Outside of that, it’d take a coordinated boycott, which would be a tough nut to crack. This isn’t like the ignorance of Bud Light calling its customer base cavemen fratboys and mocking women, since there is a plethora of other (better) beers out there… we don’t have the privilege of having many options for consuming wrestling content.
  9. This is starting to sound like it has a federal lawsuit written all over it for a myriad of reasons, whistleblower protection, notwithstanding. If it comes to that, top USAW heads would roll at the USOC’s behest.
  10. Rewatched the match last night… not really sure why Yianni was confused. Between that and the last 30 or so seconds of his second match, his match awareness didn’t look on point at Final X.
  11. I was being facetious, so you can keep your theories for the 4chan message boards. Epstein didn't kill himself.
  12. That's my bad on editing, not stupidity... I had "dominant win is worth 4 or 5," before I wrote the fluke tech fall line, then went back and changed "win" to "tech fall".
  13. I couldn’t read any more of that… it’s an infuriating mix of simpleton logic, petty squabbling and bad political takes.
  14. Unfortunately, that is also true… perhaps they’ll give him a stern talking to.
  15. There is no if. No if’s, no gray area, no mitigating circumstances. It is a clear, hard and fast rule. The punishment, however, is less clear-cut. It could be anything from temporary restrictions [Travel / Lodging Restriction(s), Coaching / Training Restriction(s), No Contact Directive(s), No Unsupervised Coaching / Training] to a suspension to permanent ineligibility.
  16. When I was coaching, the AD said we were up to get a new wrestling mat. When I told him I wanted a 3 piece Resilite, he was like, “Aren’t those heavy and hard to move?” I just told him I’ve moved mats since I was 4 years old, and I have zero sympathy for the kids who will be moving this one.
  17. Ditto. My memory used to be great… I blame iPhones for not having to remember anything anymore…
  18. You know you’re a boss when you can do all 3 by yourself at a youth tournament while also throwing the towel at the ref and having your on deck and in the hole wrestlers lined up.
  19. The value of all holds combined… would be… the score. I get what you’re saying, though, and it would make sense on the same level as breaking dual meet ties (# of pins, # of techs, etc).
  20. Given that three cautions disqualifies you, it seems like an important thing to have a pulse on, whether it’s you or your opponent who has two. Usually the scoreboards show the cautions, too.
  21. I like how the UWW rule book has all the scoring situations that seem cut and dry, but not this scenario. (I was wrong about the situation in my first post… edited to save face… still flabbergasted)
  22. That would be potentially dangerous. Feelings may be hurt.
  23. Didn’t miss much… Gilman lost, everyone hates TurdBerger for head butting Zain, Yianni lost, Flo’s streaming cut out multiple times, JB lost, people called Zahid fat, Gable didn’t serial crush Paris quite as badly, Braunagel broke Vera and he didn’t show for match 3, everyone hates Pyles, Nick Lee>Spencer Lee, Flo’s streaming cut out more, J’den was on crutches… but at least he made weight this time, Adeline made her 23rd straight world team… other than that, Flo’s streaming cut out.
  24. I just don’t get what is so hard to understand about coach-athlete relationships being strictly prohibited, and whether it was consensual, isn’t even a factor to consider. It does not matter in the SafeSport rules. Trying to mitigate the seriousness of the infraction based on them being consenting adults is asinine. Furthermore… it’s a felony for teachers/ coaches to have relationships with 18 year old students/ athletes, even if they are “consenting adults”. It’s a felony for a prison guard to have a relationship with an inmate, even if they are “consenting adults”. It’s a felony for a psychiatrist to have a relationship with his patient, even if they are “consenting adults”. Why? Because there cannot be true consent with the existence of such an imbalance of power.
