2024 Recruiting Class
Laxhawk174 replied to Indiana-Hawk-Wrestling-Fan's topic in High School Wrestling
I absolutely agree, he is a stud, and I'm with you on the Gilroy pipeline. I'm not ready to ship Kueter off to the NFL just yet like so many non-Iowa fans are. The fact he chose to sign up for SR's at the US Open proves he is just as serious about wrestling as he is football, IMO. And he still might try for another age level world team yet this summer. -

I think maybe to some level, not sure how hard Iowa is pursuing him though - M* is definitely recruiting multiple people on his HS Gilroy team. Corby mentioned to me on HR that he will be a college HWT, so.. Kueter could present a roadblock he doesn't want to deal with. -
Yes, I believe he mentioned that was his plan in his post finals interview at NCAA's. He also mentioned the olympic shirt on the Bader show.
-
I could also be mistaken on interpretation and he could be talking about 97KG. But it seemed like the context was wrestling 197 or 285 - aka being asked if he rolled with Cassioppi/Warner. And it seemed like he was saying he didn't feel like he would be ready next year at 285, but in the future he would be.
-
I guess you know better than Ben Kueter himself? Straight from the horses mouth - skip to 20:30.
-
Shocker, it's Penn State.
-
Okay, your opinion is noted. People closer to the situation than you have given credence to the possibility. Which doesn't mean it's happening, but it has been discussed. He would RS for football and wrestle as a true freshman in that scenario.
-
I think we're more likely to see Kueter at 197 lbs for Iowa next season than AJ. I say that because unless the charges are dropped, or he is offered a plea to a lesser non-sexual offense (I doubt the University would admit him with any sex crime hanging over his head), he will be headed to a Jury trial, and I doubt he fares well in that scenario. He would have to be acquitted at trial by a jury, or there would have to be at least one holdout (could be wrong on that). My point being, if we're looking at probability, as it stands right now the odds are very low he see's a college mat, let alone Iowa.

Angelo is still taking his Iowa visit sometime in May. Cancelled his ISU visit, not sure if Rutgers visit is still on or not. I would be shocked if it was him committing to the Badgers, and extremely frustrated if I'm being honest.

I have a feeling they were focused in on Jesuroga and didn't have a backup plan in place, so when he quit they had to scramble to try a replacement and were just a little too late to the party for many of the 2024 stud lightweights. Good news is they were in on Angelo early, but that's about it for optimism in the 2024 class. Our best hope going forward is to get Angelo, Nagao and pull in a monster 2025 class.

I would add Bo and Micah Jordan to that list.

Ayala did wrestle his last tourney of the year up at 133. Many of us on HR speculated he just didn't want to cut weight and there was better competition at that particular open at 133 (which was true), however it was also pointed out by somebody later on that he'd heard Ayala's cut to 125 was harder than we thought. Plus for a guy coming off a shoulder injury - lifting and getting bigger/stronger is probably a better long term plan than continuing to suck down to 125.

Heard he's buddies with Cody Chittum...

2025 Recruiting Class

I saw another poster on HR say that Angelo is tight with him. Here is their post: "He is from Stillwater and has been around the Okie State program all his life. I sat next to his folks at a tournament and asked if he was going to be a cowboy. They said he’s not committed anywhere and they are not going to push him to go to OkSt. They want him to have a “college experience” and make his own decisions. Also, him and Angelo Ferrari are pretty tight. I think he should be on our radar. He’s really, really good and super slick." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu38GQcw8H8 Go to 1:00 mark and Angelo talks about his training partners, he still goes up to Stillwater to train with his former teammates and mentions Lockett. -

Yes sir, sounds like the whole clan is there. Anthony posted a pic on his story of him in the wrestling room with Cassioppi and his 2 younger brothers Rocco and Bruno. -

For a guy training with the HWC and not wrestling Folkstyle in sort of a Greyshirt scenario. Maybe he was just focused on wrestling, getting better and not cutting a bunch of weight? Not sure why you're so adamant he has to be 157. He very well could be, but a lot of people close to the program don't know definitively one way or the other. -
Why does it say "Bob Dole Fans" under everyone's profile?

Yeah, Sorensen wrestled 70kg exclusively in college and after, and he was 149 for 4-1/2 years. Wrestled the first part of his RS Season up at 157 and dropped to 149 by Midlands. Wouldn't be surprised to see a similar path for Chittum(70kg & 149, not starting at 157 and dropping). -

Did he actually get 18 months of probation? The article was worded kind of weird. Said that the state was seeking a guilty conviction that would carry an 18 month probationary period. But then says later that Ferrari was ordered to an Anger management class and to write an apology - not mentioning the probation. Is the 18 month probation just assumed to be part of the punishment?
