  1. The biggest events for many US wrestling fans are (1) the NCAA tournament; (2) the Big Ten tournament; (3) Final X; (4) OTTs; (5) worlds; and (6) the Olympics. But as far as I know, Flo only carries two of those events: Final X and worlds. That means that even if you have a yearly Flo subscription, you still have to make other arrangements to watch (1) the NCAA tournament; (2) the Big Ten tournament; (3) OTTs; and (4) the Olympics. And of the big events I listed, the only unique service Flo offers is broadcasting Final X. When it comes to worlds, Flo is merely taking the UWW's feed -- which is free in most countries -- and then requiring US customers to pay to watch that feed. Basically, if Flo is charging $150 per year, it is hard for me to understand how that is a good deal.
  2. I'm a big JB fan -- so it's pains me to say it -- but it looks like we may have seen the last of him at the world/Olympic stage. JB will be 35 in a month; he has four kids; and he's been up at 79kg since 2021. To make the 2024 Olympic team he'll have to get down to 74kg, and then get through Dake and others. Really hard to see that happening right now. Father time may well have finally caught JB for good. Super sad, but that's how sports go.
  3. How do you feel about Flo?
  4. Cornell has the Ag School.
  5. I saw something about it online. Not sure I trust the information just yet.
  6. Marsteller will get a rematch against Burroughs at Final X on June 10. Last year Burroughs beat Marsteller two matches to one (4-0, 2-2, 5-0). Who do you think will win this time around, and in how many matches? I love Burroughs, but dude is about to turn 35, and Marsteller is tough. Makes me nervous. Should be a fun one!
  7. 57- Gilman 61- Vito 65- Yianni 70- Zain 76- Dake 79- JB 86- DT 92- Little Macc 97- Snyder 125- Gable
  8. I know what sic means. I was asking what was odd or erroneous.
  9. I asked a random AI language model (or whatever they're called) to come up with troll threads for a college wrestling discussion forum. This is some of what I got: Is Gable Steveson overrated? Is Cael Sanderson the greatest college wrestling coach of all time? Is Bo Nickal the most athletic college wrestler of all time? Is Spencer Lee the best pound-for-pound college wrestler of all time? Is Daton Fix the most consistent college wrestler of all time?
  10. What is the "[sic]" for in the thread title?
  11. Is this was counts for journalism these days? They couldn't even ask GPT-4?
  12. The current system of giving returning medalists byes to Final X is perfect.
  13. Yeah Vito might be the best. Tough to say, obviously.
  14. Here's who I have: Starocci Brooks Vito KOT Carr
  15. No idea. But in recent years Daton Fix and Dom Bradley were junior gold medalists. I’m sure other medalists won one NCAA title or less. Feel free to look into it.
  16. I think an age-group medalist would more likely than not be an All-American. But I don’t think you can really create expectations beyond that. We’re talking about high schoolers here. As you note, a ton happens after high school — and I’d add that that idea applies to all sports.
  17. Hall only had three NCAA postseasons because of COVID, and he finished 1-2-2. Both runner-up placements were to Zahid. I’d say that’s an impressive college career. International wrestling is unpredictable. You can’t ever know how a high schooler will perform at the senior level. Judgments of senior-level wrestlers also tend to be harsh. A guy can be world class, but it often doesn’t matter because people like to focus on medals.
  18. I missed Dieringer's name. That dude is super duper good. What a great weight class. Should be fun to watch.
  19. Ok so now that Nagao has committed to PSU, that answers the questions about 133. So now we have: 125- Howard? 133- Nagao 141- Bartlett 149- SVN 157- Haines / Mesenbrink 165- Facundo / Mesenbrink 174- Starocci 184- Truax 197- Brooks 285- Kerk Of course who knows if Starocci takes an ORS.
  20. Cox is entered at 97kg at the US Open. Is there a way for him to pursue the 92kg spot as well?
  21. 57- Gilman 61- Arujau 65- Yianni 70- Zain 74- Dake 79- JB 86- DT 92- Moore 97- Snyder 125- Steveson A lot of super interesting weight classes -- one of which will be 79kg, where JB may face either Marsteller or Starocci for the spot at Final X.
  22. Alright, so what might PSU's lineup look like next year? 125- Howard? 133- ? 141- Bartlett 149- SVN 157- Haines / Mesenbrink 165- Facundo / Mesenbrink 174- CStar 184- Truax 197- Brooks 285- Kerk
  23. With all this talk of NIL deals, I started wondering which wrestlers offered value in terms of social media presence. To that end, here are the Instagram numbers for a handful of prominent NCAA wrestlers: Starocci - 159k Carr - 113k Bartlett - 101k Fix - 89.7k Brooks - 35.9k Woods - 33.3k Lewis - 23.2k Ramos - 22.9k KOT - 22.7k Cassioppi - 22.5k Arujau - 22.4k Sasso - 21.1k
  24. Would somebody explain to me like I'm five what these financial packages are that everyone is speculating about? Like, in general terms, where would the money come from, and for what purpose is the money being sent to an athlete?
