ALL RESULTS OF THE 2024 PAC 12 WRESTLING TOURNAMENT
Thumper replied to Thumper's topic in College Wrestling
Apparently - according to what I heard Ken Chertow say during the finals - Oregon State, Cal Poly, Little Rock and CS Bakersfield will be the PAC 12 conference next season unless they can add another team or two. They will have two years to get back up to a six team conference (thru the 2026 season). If they do not do so they will lose their NCAA allocations. 2026 is also when the merger between the PAC 2 and the Mountain West Conference is said to be taking place and there are two schools in the MWC that have wrestling programs. That being Air Force and Wyoming. Both of which now compete in the Big 12 Conference. Personally I'd love to see ALL of the NCAA wrestling programs in the west make the move to the PAC 12 as well. That being Air Force, Northern Colorado, Utah Valley, Wyoming and California Baptist. Of course that is extremely unlikely to occur. P.S. Since the PAC 12 tournament has - for quite some time now - only had the three actual PAC 12 schools hosting the PAC 12 wrestling tournament each year and since there will only be one actual PAC 12 school next season, i.e., Oregon State I suppose that means the tournament will now be held only at Oregon State and none of the other schools will get to host the PAC 12 wrestling tournament. -

PAC 12 incompetence is on full display at Oregon State today
Thumper replied to Thumper's topic in College Wrestling
And now the one live stream that was working is not working. I swear chimpanzees would be more competent. -
No surprise at all. The PAC 12 incompetence - especially on anything having to do with the sport of wrestling has been evident for DECADES. They are supposed to have two live streams going. SURPRISE only one is going There is no audio commentary just some idiotic "musak" interrupted occasionally by a PA announcer. YEP.........same old PAC 12. I'm so glad this conference is done.

PAC 12 Seeding Guesses/Interactive Bracket
Thumper replied to bracketbuster's topic in College Wrestling
Darracott is a RS Senior. He redshirted a long time ago. Monteiro is definitely not redshirting. He's participated in 6 dual matches this season. He's also wrestled 14 matches this season (7-7 record). Norman has been in 4 dual matches this season. And he's wrestled in 16 matches this season (9-7 record). Michaelson has not competed at all. Yet he's the one Stanford has for 174 lbs on the 2024 PAC 12 bracket. -

PAC 12 brackets released: https://pac-12.com/article/2024/03/06/pac-12-announces-2024-wrestling-championship-bracket Have to wonder why Stanford is going with untested Thor Michaelson at 174 lbs rather than Tye Monteiro or Lorenzo Norman or even Darracott. -

The PAC 2 and the MWC do appear to be headed towards a merger however if that does happen it won't occur until two years down the road (2026-2027). Don't rule out the possibility that Oregon State and WSU will join Cal and Stanford and go to the A.C.C. Even if they did merge with the MWC and Wyoming and Air Force were to join Oregon State for wrestling they would still be only three wrestling programs. Obviously they need a minimum of six to be a viable conference for NCAA Div. 1 wrestling. Speaking of which maybe I missed this but what will happen to the Cal Poly and Cal State Univ. @ Bakersfield wrestling programs after this season? -
PAC 12 Seeding Guesses/Interactive Bracket
Thumper replied to bracketbuster's topic in College Wrestling
Just how I'd predict the top three at the (final?) PAC 12 wrestling tournament 125 - Figueroa (VERY hot right now) - Kaylor or Provo 133 - Bailey - Romney - Chlebove 141 - Vasquez - Belton - Miranda (Vasquez beat Belton 5-2 last season) 149 - Parco - Abas - Lamer 157 - Teemer - Cardenas - Bianchi 165 - Bianchi - Garvin - McLane 174 - Olguin - Monteiro - Kemp 184 - Munoz - Wills - Darrah 197 - Little - Stemmet - Rademacher 285 - Schultz - Hill - Tinker -
I noticed on the ASU wrestling website story on this match that they mentioned the Seniors who participated in the Senior Day activities and the only ASU starter mentioned was Tony Negron (184). Negron is listed as a RS Senior on the ASU roster and so is Jacori Teemer (157) and Chance McLane (165). This would seem to indicate Negron won't be returning for 2025 but Teemer and McLane will be returning. That meaning ASU will return 9 of 10 starters for 2025. 125 lbs - Richard Figueroa - 2025 RS Junior 133 lbs - Julian Chlebove - 2025 RS Senior 141 lbs - Jesse Vasquez - 2025 Senior 149 lbs - Kyle Parco - 2025 RS Senior 157 lbs - Jacori Teemer - 2025 6th year Senior 165 lbs - Chance McLane - 2025 6th year Senior 174 lbs - Cael Valencia - 2025 RS Junior 184 lbs - _____________________ 197 lbs - Jacob Meissner - 2025 RS Sophomore 285 lbs - Cohlton Schultz - 2025 RS Senior I wonder how guys like Emilio Ysaguirre (2025 RS SO at 141 lbs) and Kaleb Larkin (2025 RS FR at 149 lbs) and Nicco Ruiz (2025 RS FR at 165/174 lbs) and Mykey Ramos (2025 RS JR at 149 lbs) fit into that lineup for 2025. I could see Ruiz moving up to 174 lbs with Valencia moving up to 184 lbs for 2025.

As recently as yesterday the Stanford wrestling schedule and my Sling TV schedule for the PAC 12 Bay Area channel showed the Oregon State @ Stanford match - scheduled for 3 p.m. MT tomorrow (Sunday 2-18-24) - would be televised on that channel. Just like they said the Cal Poly @ Stanford match would be televised last week. NOW - as of this morning that match has been removed from the schedule on Sling TV - and a check of the school's schedule is saying now it will be on the PAC 12-Live and you can only watch it if you happen to get your internet service from one of their handful of listed providers. A PAC 12 basketball game is now in that time slot on the PAC 12 Bay Area channel. Last week the PAC 12 only televised HALF of the Cal Poly @ Stanford wrestling match (total tv time was 1 hour 2 minutes.). This week - unless you happen to have their version of the "right" internet provider you will not be able to watch the Oregon State @ Stanford. I literally could not be less surprised by this. They still have the Stanford @ Arizona State match on the Sling TV schedule for 1 p.m. today - but I won't hold my breath waiting for it to be available. With the PAC 12 in charge who knows what might happen at the last second if it involves a wrestling match?

Adam Hall named as head coach for Utah Valley

Great hire. Adam is a terrific individual and Utah Valley - IMO - is fortunate to have him as their next head wrestling coach. -
Do we think the new Big10 schools add wrestling?
Thumper replied to FanOfPurdueWrestling's topic in College Wrestling
Posting a link to a story that was released AUGUST 5th of LAST YEAR???? Brilliant....................NOT!!!! It's not like it's MORE than 6 months old now..............oh wait....................YES IT IS. -
Not only does his confidence not look the same as it was when he was at Stanford (and last season) but he simply does not look the same this season and his results prove that beyond what anyone else says to the contrary. He has lost two consecutive matches - first to a True Freshman at Michigan (Lemley) by a 12 point MD and second to Penn State's Beau Bartlett (7-2) - who has now moved up to # 1 in that weight class after beating Woods.
-
Personally I've never been a fan of the Iowa wrestling program but having said that I can only comment on what I have observed of the one former PAC 12 wrestler who chose to transfer to Iowa. That being, of course, Real Woods. What I've observed of Woods since he enrolled at Iowa is a wrestler whose talent level has been diminished He was at roughly the same level - talent wise - LAST season (for his first season at Iowa)...........but to say he's NOT the same wrestler (this season) that he was at Stanford or even last season should be blatantly obvious. So what has caused his decline? I think the answer to that question is blatantly obvious.
-
Hard to say how it's all going to shake out considering they will almost certainly go "shopping" via the transfer portal - particularly for 197 lbs.

Very well said. I am of the same opinion which is why I took it upon myself to do this as a comparison of whatever one calls them - rankings or ratings or whatever. Another good example is Kemp of Cal Poly at 174 lbs. WS has him at # 27 yet the other three have him at either # 9 or # 10. -
