  1. Just imagine if Lovett wasn't redshirting this year. They might overtake Iowa for 2nd place.
  2. Jeff Ecklof did this for Northampton against Easton to face Matt Ciassulli. Both as returning state Champs. Ecklof sucked down for a match and beat him.
  3. Impressive that Saldate took out Lewan and Lee back to back.
  4. actually five I guess: Jon Trenge, Paul Velekei, Derek Jenkins, Sean Jenkins, Christian Franco apparently I didn't make the same impression on Jon. I saw him outside of Beast of the East one year (maybe 2002?) and said hello to him. He had no memory of me and seemed a little weirded out by my approach (lol!).
  5. it's pretty cheesy, but I went to Parkland for youth program and used the Flying Cement against my Northampton opponent for a pin to place 7th place in our youth league. I used to like to work from a front headlock as much as possible when I did wrestle :) Parkland didn't have many moves they were known for (if any). My youth team that I joined growing up though happened to have three college wrestlers on it including Jon Trenge. I looked up to those guys a lot.
  6. I grew up in the late 80s early 90s - Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles all the way!!! My kids, 6 and 3 respectively, only know about the Turtles because of me :)
  7. Saldate beats Lee and then gets a team point deducted after giving the referee a celebratory wet willie
  8. If wrestlers needed to be compared to Ninja Turtles villains, I would say that Labriola and Pinto are definitely Bebop and Rocksteady
  9. Cannon seems to be on pace for a decision which puts us at 4-3 for the huskers. remainder of match predictions: 141: Brock Hardy dec Frankie Tal-Shahar (8-3) 149: Yahya Thomas dec Dayne Morton (8-6) 157: Peyton Robb dec Trevor Chumbley (11-6) 165: Bubba Wilson dec Maxx Mayfield (14-6) 174: Mikey Labriola major Troy Fisher (18-6) 184: Lenny Pinto pins Evan Bates (24-6) 197: Silas Allred dec Andrew Davison (27-6) 285: Lucas Davison major Cale Davidson (27-10)
  10. Ultimately, we may see both Burwick and Lamont fail to qualify for Nationals
  11. I've never seen this version of Liam Cronin before. He's been incredible. No more underestimating him from me
  12. Liam Cronin has a cradle locked up and has gotten four backs. Still locked but pin seems unlikely now
  13. If I'm game planning against Cronin, I just do whatever it takes to avoid that lefty underhook. All his moves come from that as a starting point
  14. Cronin vs DeAugustino. We are on BTN+ Cronin has been on an absolute tear. DeAuggie was a participant in the infamous double forfeit incident of 2023 and was subsequently pinned by Lee. Not sure where he is at right now
  15. @Major Kong@jajensen09
  16. Saldate vs Lee and Foley vs Nagao were the two matches closest to being a tossup in my mind.
  17. Nice way to finish off the dual - two matches between unranked opponents and a forfeit.
  18. My predictions: 125: McKee major Lujan (0-4) 133: Foley dec Nagao (3-4) 141: Bergeland major Hamdan (3-8) 149: Blockhus dec Omania (3-11) 157: Saldate dec Lee (6-11) 165: Fish dec Sparks (8-11) 174: O'Reilly dec Garza (8-14) 184: Salazar dec Malczewski (8-17) 197: Caffey dec Foy (11-17) 285: Vasbinder dec Joles (14-17)
  19. Gonzalez wrestled well against Peterson. I wondered whether Goodale would let Shawver wrestle in front of home fans in Ohio but guess not
  20. Sam Latona with victories over Vito Arujau, Chris Cannon, Michael Collaiocco, and Jesse Mendez but losses to Pat Phillips (Franklin & Marshall) and Jason Shaner (solid but not the same level)
  21. That could be true if they were starting the decision making process right now instead of along time ago (which seems more likely). Neither Teske nor Ybarra seem like full size 133s based on their appearances this year
  22. Ybarra could still probably take Steen. Also maybe Teske could make the weight for a match since he always used to
  23. 18-15 Cornell wins
