I apologize, I don’t recall the OP, but on TheMat in the 2018 southern scuffle thread
[Nolf destroys Finesilver, pins him in 0:51 in the finals.]
“You see, what Finesilver did wrong there was, winning his semi-final”
Good line that one.
I heard the issue was getting Burwikkk to sign the waiver. Bono had ended practice with a “get out from bottom and we’re done”.
Some say, if it wasn’t for outside interference he may still be stuck with his head on the mat.
Do you have personal knowledge he wasn’t confident enough in himself?
It feels like you’re stating it(his lack of confidence)as fact. And based it off an incorrect anecdote.
Quite speculative and judgmental.
Perhaps he would like to but there is currently no value in doing so in Folk vs. the benefit for Freestyle? Plus there are team aspects at play. Doesn’t want to cut weight for an NCAA season as opposed to a handful of freestyle weigh-ins.
But we don’t actually know.
[Gable moved up (130, 137, 142), Owings did not move, he was at 142 for 3 years.]
Could we say all champions lack confidence if they aren’t willing to go up or down a weight to challenge another champion?
There is a difference between 2x’ers and 3x’ers in terms of legacy, beating Fix a 3rd time is a big deal.
What if, we make a rule where you can’t touch the opponent below the waist? And your legs can’t be used to block theirs. Maybe we call that a ‘foul’ if you do use your legs against theirs or touch below the waist.
Thoughts?
Feels like the sport may be a bit different then. Perhaps we come up with a new name. I’m thinking something heavily European maybe?
