Ventresca. Spratley took zero shots because the refs let him get away with being in defense mode the whole match. He beat Robinson once and maybe twice, I’m too tired to look.
Agreed. He’s definitely the best of the remaining portal dudes. Hopefully he can put the past behind him and get a fresh start somewhere else. From my understanding, he burnt too many bridges to return to VT even if he wanted to. His dad’s antics both public facing and behind the scenes tainted his standing on the college scene to a point that it’ll be an uphill climb that’s gonna be tough to recover from. I wish him the best of luck where ever he lands.
It’ll be interesting to see where he lands. Dude had the tools to be successful again. Not sure a program change was needed to get back to AA level but understand his mom was sick and could have impacted him emotionally through last season along with other reasons reported on the hokie board.
Good point. The huskers are a solid program, with a great coach and an attractive landing spot. I’m not sure how much AJ being there would influence Bo’s decision though.
Agree 100%. VT/ACC would be a great fit for him. His profile, both on and off the mat would likely skyrocket. In the B10 or 12, he’d be just another really good wrestler,
What is the status on Bo’s college choice? This round had way less publicity than his first cycle.
Chatter seems to indicate Nebraska as a likely favorite vs Ok State and PSU
From a biased standpoint, VT is probably a better choice if he wants to be a program changer. He could slot in after Henson graduates and would get to train with Henson since he’ll likely be around Blacksburg to train for the next Olympic cycle. If I was a rising 149 college prospect, I’d jump at the opportunity to train with Henson who will end up as one of the top 149 guys in history.
VT was in his final 3 choices or whatever the number was. Henson graduates next year but it sticking around to train for the Olympic cycle and then on to mma. He’d be a great partner for Bo
On another note, somebody posted on the VT board that TJ Stewart had to be driven in a golf cart to his classes by a coach last year because he wouldn’t go otherwise
It was also mentioned his grades are so bad, he probably can’t wrestle until the second semester, at presumably NC State.
Agreed on TJ at 197. His dad blamed his knee, training partners, ill family member etc for last season’s performance or lack thereof. Weight management was the likely the main problem which he struggled with his freshman year but got hot at the right time and AA’d.
Tampa Tom has a bright future. I’ve only seen Wright wrestle at the SE Open. He cut to 165. He wrestles hard and with a chip on his shoulder but needs to improve technique wise. We will see if he jumps levels year with a full year of D1 experience under his belt. He had the frame to add mass to be a full sized 174
That’ll be a good roster battle between Desiante and Wright. I’d say it will be up for grabs until the January unless there’s a weight change for either guy
Wonder what weight the UTC dude slots, 174 or 184?
Hopefully VT snags a full sized 184 before next season with Stewart’s departure. I’m hearing VT has zero interest in wanting him back if the portal doesn’t pan out.
