He did stuff like reach back while on bottom and let guys get to his legs. As a fan, he was tough to watch at times but you knew know matter the score he was going to try something big. I knew he was special when he was a freshman in a dual against UNC. He upper body tossed Austin O’Connor twice and nearly stuck him.
someone did a highlight reel of BA. The video is like 7+ minutes which is insane but indicative of how often he did spectacular moves in his career
Bryce Andonian! Gunslinger with zero F’s given. I still think he stuck Haines and should have been in the finals that year. Not saying he’d won because he can pin anybody or get pinned by anybody but the guy was electric
Not sure it meets the criteria but VT under Robie, and going back to Dresser are only one of three or four teams with 3+ AA’s each year for over ten years running
Agreed.
But from what my buddy says, his dad set the climate on the board and pi$$ed off a couple posters who pointed to the obvious lack of effort not withstanding his injury recovery that has hampered his season so far. It sounds like the majority of fans support TJ but are getting tired of his dad’s drama which apparently goes back to his high school days too.
The VT forum agrees and some voiced some choice words. It seems TJ’s daddy chimed in too and appears to be getting in arguments with VT fans. That’d be embarrassing for a wrestler to have a parent arguing with fans.
Did Surber take a full committed shot? Heck I don’t think he tried a half shot. That was poorly officiated match and he should have been dinged for stalling
I’m a VT fan but could easily see this one getting out of hand for a big OSU win if McGonagle and Wolak are still out.
if the dual win is not within reach for VT, I’d look for Sasso and Big Cat to go for VT. 197 starter isn’t locked down for VT and Andy already beat Surber so no real reason to scrap again unless the dual win is within reach
It’s likely to happen. Jimmy is a freshman who split time between football and wrestling most of his career. Now that he’s wrestling full time, he’s likely to make a level jump soon. He’ll hit some bumps with the top tier guys but he’s athletic and a pinner in his own right. Doubtful he’ll stick Wyatt but he has a puncher’s chance to make it interesting
If he doesn’t get caught underneath Wyatt and can get off bottom, he can probably keep it close. Jimmy is good in neutral too but gives up the strength and experience advantage. It’s good for Jimmy to scrap with him now because they’ll likely meet in March
As a VT fan, I hope you are way wrong. Honestly though, there are lots of toss up matches that could go wrong and tilt the score to a lopsided loss for VT. If VT can get by without giving up bonus points at 184 and hvy, that would help but TJ is 0-5 and Plott is a dawg, he might be lucky to hold it to a MD
This will be a great match. Here my predictions with orange and maroon glasses:
125 VT win 3-0
133 VT win 6-0
141 OSU win 6-3 VT
149 VT MD 10-3 VT
157 VT win 13-3 VT
165 OSU win 13-6 VT
174 VT win 16-6 VT
184 OSU MD 16-10 VT
197 VT win 19-10 VT
Hvt OSU pin 19-16 VT
