  1. Discuss amongst yourselves . . .GO!
  2. "...apparently, it's also considered unacceptable to throw chairs off top floors of buildings." ~Morgan Wallen
  3. These Excel clips are making me super jealous right now!!
  4. This one stumped me . . . I cheated and had to look it up! The answer: 1976 Olympic Gold medalist (and multiple time world medalist) John Peterson. . .not to be confused with the John Peterson who wrestled on your high school team! ('cause there's John Peterson's everywhere, get it)?
  5. While conjecture (McHenry 4 time champ @ 112), I'm inclined to agree with you! I was hoping he'd grow into the weight over his 5+ years of college but. . . *sigh*
  6. haha! That was my favorite too... that and "I just put my head on the mat!"
  7. oh, oh, I love stuff like this! Although this one's giving me trick question vibes! The only one I can think of that maybe would qualify is Butch Keaser, who wrestled for the US Naval Academy (so not technically a college university???). And fitting with this thread, he never won an NCAA title! Made two FS world teams in the 70s and was lucky enough to get to go to the exotic tourist destinations of Tehran and Minsk! How'd I do?
  8. In case you're dragging. . . can't watch this one enough! Jacob Butler | @sebastiannriveraa is overrated #wrestling #wrestletok #wrestlingmemes #ncaawrestling | Instagram
  9. Chance definitely underperformed, which may be a separate thread altogether. But it got me thinking about other most-hyped wrestlers that underperformed and didn't win NCAAs. Zach Sanders probably belongs on that list? Sure, he's a 4 time AA so it's hard to be too critical, but as you mentioned, super hyped coming out of high school- #1 recruit, 5 time state champion, etc . . . We'll call this category "Studs to Duds: The Ryan Leaf/JaMarcus Russell Underachievement Award" Other award nominees (in no particular order, just limited to 5) Gavin Teasdale Kurt McHenry Andrew Camplotanno Alex Cisneros Marcus LeVasseur (sure, 4x D3 champ, but had D1 talent)
  10. ehh, Tom Ryan's not going anywhere, especially when he takes my advice and hires a social media manager to ramp up his Tiktok and Insta! On a separate note, I'm pretty high on Ben Davino. If they can develop him properly, he's gonna be a good one!
  11. Maybe Steve Neal (I just deleted an AJ Ferrari jab I wrote in here). I think Steve started in high school- he placed 4th in CA state tournament as a senior. If we're not limiting to Americans, then some pretty household names on the Russian side of the globe started pretty late, most notably: Ivan Yarygin (18 yrs old) and Alexander Karelin (14 yrs old). Somebody also told me that Aslanbek Khushtov started wrestling when he was 19, which translates since he didn't start winning stuff until he was 28-30 yrs old. However, I haven't had the time or gumption to verify it- too busy posting on this site! haha!
  12. Oh, there's a bunch of dudes who are/were great wrestlers that never won NCAAs. Here's a few that come to mind: James Green (7,7,3,3) Thomas Gilman (2,3) Townsend Saunders (2,3) *NOTE* Did win an NCAA DIV II title so not sure if he can go on this list. What the hell, let's give it to him! Ken Chertow (3,3) - I'm sorta on the fence with him Russ Hellickson - I don't remember him doing much in college. Decent freestyle career - got picked on by the Russians but who didn't! @fishbane already mentioned Bobby Weaver and I'm 100% on board with that. I remember he lost to Gene Mills in college once but no shame in that
